Fan Override Switch Schematic

I am interested in installing a fan override switch for my '09 RZR. My brother had a fan issue with his '02 Sportsman and he just used a jumper wire to bypass the temp sensor in the radiator. I would like to have a switch if this would ever happen. I'm not naive to electronics, but I'm drawing a blank on the schematics of the switch. I would like to have the led lit when the fan comes on and the ability to turn the fan on with the switch. Do I need a DPDT or can I make it work with SPST, which I have, with a diode. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Buck RZR:rzrs:

Re: Fan Override Switch Schematic

You need to tap into the yellow black wire from the fan relay take tap to one side of SPST switch, ground the other side of switch. This will allow fan to operate normally when switch is not thrown and operate all the time when switch is activated. If you want to add a indicator LED then it would be best to use a DPDT switch and have the LED on the other pole with the LED anode connected to 12 v and the cathode connected to the switch.

Re: Fan Override Switch Schematic

This is the one I just installed on my 09. Instructions were simple I had the same issue with my 2000 sportsman fan burt up never saw the over heat light. I also just installed a autometer phantom II water temp gauge as well.
Would be nice if PoPo would put seprate gauges in these machines but then again they would charge 1,000.00 more I guess.

Or use the diode and the SPST switch, wiring the diode and led off of the switched terminal of the SPST switch. That way when its closed the led will light. diode will prevent drain when open. KC.

Re: Fan Override Switch Schematic

so i need to have a keyed or constant power run to switch, tap into power side of fan to switch and tap into ground to switch or do i need to use ground at all? if so would just tapping into ground side of fan work for the switches ground? i did one one on my old brute but just ran direct off battery with inline fuse. i want the thermo switch to still workthis time.

Re: Fan Override Switch Schematic

I hooked mine up from a second fuse box i installed, it is on an unswitched circuit so I can run it with the key off incase I'm having overheating problems. Use a 20 amp breaker so it will automatically reset if needed.

Re: Fan Override Switch Schematic

Quadovator is the way to go. Plug and play and switch lights up when fan comes on either from manually turning on switch or auto when thermostat turns on fan.
