Re: quick cleaning

I try to wipe the plastic off with pledge or simular. that way all you have to do is spray off and it doesnt stick to the machine either.

Re: quick cleaning

I clean mine with simple green. I wash all the heavy mud off it with water, then soak the hole thing down with simple green, let it sit for just a few minutes, then spary it off; It does wonders. I still have to wash a few spots by hand but the simple green does great. I then dry it off and coat the whole thing with a silicone lube. It makes it shine and puts a thin film on it which makes mud easily come off the next time I ride it. WD-40 will do the same trick.

Re: quick cleaning

I haven't found anything that let's the mud slide off better than PAM. Keep the suggestions coming, I'm heading out to the mud in a couple of weeks and would love to try some other stuff.

Re: quick cleaning

I use Armourall tire foam...It cleans off the residue left behind from pressure washing, and also leaves a film to aid in the next cleaning....It also makes all the black areas look new and all the red look shiny....
Gunk makes an engine detailer and cleaner that does about the same thing.....Just make sure it's the detailer, and not the regular engine cleaner.......I think it comes in a gel....

Re: quick cleaning

This probably isn't new to some, but I stumbled across silicone spray lubricant by johnsen's and that stuff is formidable. It puts a thin coat of silicone over every thing and it flows out. It waterproofs and doesn't wash off easy. Gives the plastic a brand new look and sheds water away from anywhere you dont want it - plugs, ignition, ect. Found it at the local exxon . Found some similare at walmart (CRC heavy duty silicone) it does almost as well. Just spray it on like spray paint, let the hydrocarbons evap and lightly wipe the plastic. Very impressed!!!!

There is alot off difference in the silicone lube out there. Not at all like wd-40, forgot to mention that in the previous post.

Re: quick cleaning

What works for me is to sray it off as soon as I get home, no matter how tired I am or how late it is. The garden hose and a little bit of soap and water works great.

Re: quick cleaning

Ever since I had a atv, I use Mop and Glow. I picked up this little trick going to races about 15 years ago. It works for me but after each ride, I clean the machine, then put another coat back on it.

I second the Pam....hit it with the hose to knock the big mud off, then a soapy hose/brush thingy, then coat the whole damn thing with PAM. Don't use the Garlic PAM, 'cause it's stinky.

Re: quick cleaning

Spray with "final detail" before you ride and "Charlie's Soap" for final clean.
