Polaris Industries, the maker of snowmobiles and all-terrain-vehicles, said it hired Steve Eastman, former president of Target.com, to lead its parts and accessories division.

Eastman left Target in October following a debacle on the discount retailer's website, which became national news during the rollout of the Missoni-for-Target designer line in September. Overwhelmed by the unexpected demand, the site crashed for hours on the morning of the rollout. More troubles followed.

At Polaris, Eastman will succeed Scott Swenson, who previously ran both the parts and garments division and the company's small vehicles division.

Scott Wine, chief executive of Polaris, a $2.7 billion company based in Medina, said both the small vehicles and parts, garments and accessories businesses are vital to the company's success and the company is committed to pursuing aggressive growth in both of those markets.

In 2011, the parts, garments and accessories division accounted for $408 million of Polaris' $2.7 billion in sales.

Eastman has more than 30 years of business experience. In his most recent position at Target, he was responsible for growing and managing a $1.3 billion business and leading a team of more than 1,000 global employees.
