Ran the XC in the Pro-utv race! Video too!

Got a 5th in class and a 6th over all too! Whoop Whoop!

Here is the video link.

Some of us drivers and co-pilots were all standing around shooting the breeze before the race and someone said " I can't believe you are going to race that thing against us!" I replied, "I can guarantee i won't be last." I have only ridden the machine for a few minutes, but I could tell right away the power to weight ratio was close to the bigger cars.

if you don't watch it all... watch long enough to see me chase down some of those guys in the faster stuff. I glanced down one time and saw 64! She was floating very well too considering how short the wheel base is.

BEST thing too, everything checks out today too. All four corners are good and tight! Definitely needs some stiffer and beefier springs and shocks up front... i couldn't tell much about the rear because I was having to slow down so much from bottoming out the front end! I am sure I would have went faster in the XP1k... but I still had an absolute blast racing this one!

Curious what you have done to your machine to race ? Are you running a tune ? I used an Evo tune on my 900 razor and can tell a big difference .

I've spent most of my money on women, guns, and Harleys. The rest I just wasted.

Bone stock. Just added the Polaris front and rear bumpers, Polaris doors and SuperAtv tree kickers. I also ran some OMF wheels and OTR hp-9 tires for this race too.

I have one but I haven't done anything to it yet. I'm waiting till I finish my 900 Razor XC rock crawler to start on my Ace. I haven't seen a lot of these that have been really upgraded yet. Someone will come out with a good tune and get it close to 90 hp pretty soon bet .

That was awesome! Some shocks and a clutch kit and you might be able to pull a few more positions. Always fun being the underdog and beating a few guys up. They have how much into their machine? Lol!

Shocks are a must! I had to keep slowing down to keep from bottoming out the front

I could have easily went faster in the xp1k because it just soaks up so much more.

I also think the bigger car is more stable in the faster stuff too, which would also allow me to hang it out a little more.

Re: Ran the XC in the Pro-utv race! Video too!

AND, lap times came out today. My best was a 10:51. My son managed a 9:46 in his xp1k. The Can Am who won had a best of 9:21. The two fast S-1000 cars managed a 9:41 and a 9:48 too.

I am definitely off the pace of the front 3 or 4... but I had a faster lap time than all but one in the Novice 1000 class.

Here is also a neat little video of one of the hill climb sections. That is a Turbo XP pushing me too... he gets around and checks out on that lap too... dang it!

Yeah if the ruts get deep you might have a hard time having to stagger the wider tracks also.

Most machines in the XC racing are 60" or so anyways so it rides right in the ruts. We had some get pretty deep in one soft place and one little creek crossing.

I do have to be careful not to hit the rutts in the turns too hard tho... in the latter laps, it started jacking up on two wheels when I dove into the rutted turns. Didn't take me long to adjust tho.

I was running OMF wheels off one of our XP cars, so I was sitting right at 59" The two faster S cars are also running Zero off-set wheels, so they are right at the same width. We have our Xp down to 63" with the zero offsets and smaller tires too.

You know, I actually ran a new set of tires for our Tire Sponsor (OTR WHEEL ENGINEERING)

These were 27/9/14... They worked perfectly too... but I would have preferred to run some 25" tires myself.

The smaller the tire the more control you have of the car... AND, the less rotating weight too.

We have tried everything... You couldn't get the Bounce out of the 28s. 27s seem to be a great medium because you still have some height for the when the deeper ruts show up.

We have settled on 26" for our main tire choice tho... Less weight, and less sidewall to cut, and the car really feels planted too!

My boy actually ran some 26 OTR wizzards with no air, just tire blocks in them.

I do not recommend this now either. After lap 2, he had almost a minute lead over 3rd and right on the leader's tail. Well, his rear tires developed flat spots and started shaking the car badly. Especially in the faster sections. He thought the rear radius rods or bearings was coming apart, so he slowed way down... and then a mishap about being in 2wd and not 4wd cost him 2nd place on the last lap too.
