dude we found the same tree dude.

your photos are neat. good for you.

I rewatched and people should know you put a move in that corner and was passing that guy in turn 2.

I can see where you were camped. (by the sponsors tent) and right behind was about the only place I did not walk.
Although I went past the "melting issue" RZR 4 or 5 times.

good for you. My loss not meeting you.
(you should have said 884 was 2 feet tall in lime green on black)

Re: Amsoil Ironman GNCC - Crawfordsville, IN - Oct 20,21

Hey guys, its nice to hear a little chatter about GNCC. We drove there yesterday from Detroit, My wife and I walked around all day with our 15 month old in a baby backpack then drove back. All and all we were up for 22 hours!
What a great event! There were some really great places to watch from, my favorite were the big hills by the finish line.
We bought an XP a month ago just to go GNCC racing with next year, We ran into Larry Hendershot at the race and he was kind enough to give us some pointers.
For you guys who ran it, what do you think the ideal width would be? I am thinking we are going to run 60" wide

That was quite a haul! I would keep width no more than 60" i ran my S which is 60" and it was tight in spots, couldnt imgine being wider

Re: Amsoil Ironman GNCC - Crawfordsville, IN - Oct 20,21

We were actually checking out the Polaris booth when I looked over and saw that burnt up frame along with a big yellow sign telling everybody how Polaris screwed that guy over, I am not sure if I believe it or not. If I were Polaris I think I would get that guy a new RZR just to shut him up. All I could think of when I saw it was that I better get full coverage insurance!
Kguffey, how bad is your frame? do you think you can fix it or does it need replaced? To be honest I didn't think you guys were running the kind of speeds to do that much damage.
In hindsight do you think a gusset kit would have helped? Tough break...

It doesn't take a whole lot of speed to do damage. 1200 lbs at 10mph is a lot of force. (If I had my statics and strengths book I would tell you exactly what it is) any time any thing makes a rapid deceleration damage occurs.

Yes it's repairable, gonna put it on car rack and get it back, reinforce it, and new a arms. Gussets Probably would of helped, or they would've caused the bolts to rip through metal.
There's No denying Polaris metal is cheap. I was going 10 MPH Max.. which is decent, but still.. the a arm break is a clean snap, No bend

Looks like a good time

As for the burnt machine..Polaris has an easy out on that one..whether it caused the fire or not...that nice DASA exhaust blows any claim of a problem with design out of the water.

Re: Amsoil Ironman GNCC - Crawfordsville, IN - Oct 20,21

Need to remind people that there was 3 days of rain prior and walking was nearly impossible. Your boots stuck and feet would come out.

I watched the quads in the morning and thought i knew the course.
Then they ran the SXS on a slightly different course.

Mud was so deep that i passed on free supper at the Parts Unlimited booth. Wanted to head home before the slowpokes.

As far as the melting thing it was intentional must have parked it early. He was within sight over in the next aisle but stayed away.
Looks to have various mods, don't know much about engines myself.

Re: Amsoil Ironman GNCC - Crawfordsville, IN - Oct 20,21

We parked it there because it was the only spot available by my buddy's camp.
Yes, I did want people to see it to warn others. Polaris failed to install heat shields for the first 6mo of production. I would happily share this info and talked to many people about it.
Polaris had a TSB notice that was not conveyed to RZR owners but was sent to the dealers instructing them to install heat shields. I had it at the dealer for service 3 times after the dealers had notice.
If they have a known melting issue they failed to address then it is Polaris issue. They have had several others burn too even with stock muffler.
Polaris did nothing for me but I did have insurance.
I support sxs racing, host a race and spent over $150,000 with Polaris. If people like me don't share these issues, then the public wont know since Polaris didn't notify their customers.
We raced ironman again and had a blast as usual.
I met a lot of good people and factory reps because we brought and shared with others.
If I just melted it down and didn't share with others than one of the others that learned of the problem through my sharing may get hurt or suffer unecessary damages. Sometimes you just gotta speak up for safety of others.

My 2011 XP quickly burnt to the ground because Polaris and my dealer failed to notify me of the TSB notice for heat shield. Now it's just a pile of metal.
Just bought an 12' XP and definately installing a heat shield and fire extinguisher.
