Re: Sand reeper

I think it is a Cherry engine, not Chevy.
Isn't that what the Joyner rides use?

Re: Sand reeper

Actually it is spelled chery and yes it is basicly the same running gear as a Joyner. These have been on the market in other countries for like 6 or 7 years. Look up utube for jeep800 uvx I think. They were being build looking like mini jeeps but Chrysler sued.
I would put up a link but I am on my phone and lazy. Haha
Chery has sold 1.7 million of these engines since 2007. They are used for every thing from these rides to John Deere 800 uvx gators to generators to cars. Fiat uses some chery engines and the engine in the fiat 500 car sold here is a chery design so they have practice at building them. I researched the shit out of these before I bought.

Re: Sand reeper

Is there alot of trails down there? I live up in Gladwin county so there are quite a few places around me.
Not that you have to have trails. Nice thing about these. I have put 1100 miles on mine in 2 months. Would be a bit more if the weather hasnt sucked so bad. Most of those are road and back road miles.
One area I like to drive is 35 miles north. Nice sand hills and all kinds of trails. The beauty is I can just drive my Reeper up there. Drive the trails and climb some hills for a few hours and head back home.

An update, I put on a better flowing exhaust and it has helped big time. The duals look cool on these machines but are very restrictive. It is pretty loud now though. Just ordered a Super trapp muffler I am hoping will let me tune it better as no one makes one specificly for this machine. The muffler I am running now is from a Joyner with the same engine but it is a little to free flowing. With the intake I built power is noticebly better.

Re: Sand reeper

OK, I have had my Sand Reeper for four months now. I have put just over 3000 miles on it in that time. My best one day total was around 150 miles of roads and trails. I have gone thru and climbed stuff I didnt think was possible. I have not had much of anything I could not climb or go thru that I have come across. It would do even better if I were running the offroad tires that came with it rather than the narrower General Grabber IIs I am running but have to be road legal and have a good ride.
Anybody that has riden in it comments on how well it rides on road and off. The only thing I have had to do besides oil and filter changes and constant air filter cleaning, just because I cant let it get close to dirty, has been a couple front wheel alignments from offroading.
I did a couple timed runs and pulled 57 and 58 MPH in the 1/8 mi on gravel with a 1/4 coming in at 71 and 72 mph which is pretty much top speed.

Luckily there is nothing in the 312 page law that describes a dunebuggy. Hense how I registered it.
As for being hit by a Chevy. Yep I would be dead. A chance I am willing to take. Like ridin a motorcycle. Ya look out for the people not looking out for you.
As for the quote I didn't say it had a Chevy 4. I know what I own.
As for supporting the Chinese. If some here built something like this I would buy it. They don't. On a side not it is assemble in NM. 65% of my f150 comes from outside our borders.
It is a good little vehicle unlike anything else. Worth it to me. Just saying. I am not claiming it is better or badder. Just cool as I see it. I will find out in a year or so if I wasted my cash. Until then I am goin to enjoy it and drive the guts out of it.

There is also a dealer in St Helen now and Central Powersport in Mt Pleasant and I heard there is a dealler in Holland as well.

Yes there is a dealer in Mi stocking them. Look up Michigansandreeper.com I think it is. They are located over by Muskegon in Nunica or something like that.

Re: Sand reeper

I just bought one on monday( used 300 miles), I have quite a bit of grease on the block behind the starter and can't see where from, the biggest issue is the temp guage is showing it running hot, I don't think it is but not sure yet. Anyone have a reeper?

Re: Sand reeper

I bought one today Paris motor sports Paris Tx. I had plates and inspection. sticker before I left store. I will see. I am NOT into mud water etc just basic trails. I have 2011 RZ 4 total stock except Warn winch less than 50 hours NOT made up mind but may be interested in selling soon. Anyway let the good times roll!!! Did not carry my Toyhauler Cyclone 3800 but by faith hoping it will fit. I'll see in the morning.

I have one and am impressed so far. I have put just over 5k miles on it since the end of April with a mix of mud, trails and road. I have been driving it like a second car at times and just installed a heater to keep me toasty when I am playing in the Michigan snow. I have done many mods so far and all is working great. Any questions just ask. And for the over heating issue yes they appear to run hot by the gauge. I changed my thermostat to a 165 to make sure it runs cool.

My husband and I are considering in getting a SandReeper as a second vehicle since we'll be moving to St. Helen in a month. There is a dealer near you. St. Helen Motorsports just became a dealer. How's the heater working?

We were going to go to McCoy Motorsports and get ours but since St. Helen Motorsports became a dealer we're going to get one from them.

Re: Sand reeper

I don't know about a second vehicle in Michigan winters. The heater works good but the top isn't all that air tight. I didn't know St Helen motorsports is selling them now. That's cool. Even closer dealer for me. I go trail riding up near West Branch in maple valley and the St Helen trails. If you get one let me know and I can set you up with part numbers for the heater and stuff and pics of the install. Also I did some mods to tighten the top up. I could share that with you too. I am going to have to drive mine up to St Helen now and stop by the dealer
