supposedly it's made with the 170 in the same plant. they are actually a 150cc, I was told by the importer that they did not feel the 170 that is installed in the unit that Polaris resells was "long term reliable". they felt that the 150 motor was "more robust". I don't know if any of this is true or just bs? I have had one of these on order for several months, we'll see. I tried to get a rzr170 first but my local dealer wanted roughly 5g's otd, no way.

I'd prefer the 150cc. It's been around for 15-20 years, is very reliable, has a large support network in the US with many stocking dealers/mail order/eBay. And a huge upgrade aftermarket (BB, heads, cams, exhausts...). Most parts interchange between brands so there's never a real problem getting drivetrain parts. Chassis parts can be a problem. Get a welder :)

thats pretty much what I was told. the chassis parts they said are all the same. obviously body parts will not match. I don't have any problem getting engine parts for the 150's. we'll see, I fully admit I'm taking a shot in the dark with this one.

Yes, how much and can you put up a link to the dealer or give us their name. How long until you get it? It's hard as hell to find out anything about these on the internet. Apparently they are not available in canada yet, probably because they don't have french labelling lol.

Those knockofff run around 3000 retail, Icebear atv's in CA sell them. You have to become a dealer to get them the invoice is 2000 grand plus shipping. But parts are way to hard to get from them I bought about 6 Differnet quads from them n it took me 7 months to a gear shift that wasn't on there when they sipped it to me and 3 months to get a carb. I personally would not buy one of them. Hopes this helps.

I think it looks a heck of a lot better, Even "looks" like they might have a bed? I wouldn't buy one, Already have a 170.. But still, Someone designed that one much more aggressively! I also wonder if it has a working Speedo?

Lots of questions?

UPDATE: BTW 56 would be 34.7968MPH... I doubt that if they are both 170s?

UPDATE 2: Here I uploaded the clone's pic..easier to see..

I emailed the company and got this response:

"This unit is brand new and we are shipping it only from shanghai to our customers. You can order 4pcs minimum order if you want. the price is $2200 FOB SHANGHAI.The shipping for a container will be around $3300 to Nova Scotia, Canada"

Waiting for a list of dealers.

I've been following this thread real close and I wanted to gauge interest. I was in the market for RZR 170 for my little boy when I stumbled on the picture of the FGS-UTV170. Since then I've been in contact with company that manufactures and distributes these in China. For the last 3 days I've had numerous phone conversations with them and it looks like I am about to place an order for 4 units. The purpose of this order is not only to buy what looks like a cool lil UTV for my son but to also test and review the product with intention of setting up a distributorship to retail them. Basically right now I'm guaging interest in this product if everything that I'm hearing about it turns out to be legit. Trying to determine if it would be a worthwhile venture to start importing these things. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

a member on here sup44 did exactly that. he wanted a buggy for each of his boy's so he ordered a shipment of them and sold off the balance for enough to cover the 2 for his boy's. worked out well for him, it was few years ago before the "great recession" though. worth looking into anyway.

If the info I got was accurate you would be buying them for $2200 per unit plus $3300 shipping plus whatever duties and taxes there would be. Before you pay duties and taxes the four units would cost you $12,100. To break even you would have to sell them for $3025. Assuming you pay 15% duties and taxes your total price would be $13,400 making your break even point $3355. Once you factor in at least 10% profit you would have to sell them for $3700. A Polaris is $3900. Unless you order a 40 foot container load I doubt you could even get your money back. If I were looking at a $3900 Polaris the Chinese clone would have to be at least $1000 less for the risk to be worth it.
Just my 2 cents.

Mikd...what did you pay???

....yeah... I too am contemplating buying a 170 for my boy.. I'd be all about the chinese clone if it was 1000 dollars cheaper.. Its a clone though, and that being said, although the Polaris one is chinese, it still says Polaris, which is a comfort when it comes to fixin time. The clone is better looking, and probably has all the same running parts, but its a clone, and that being said, needs to be a lot cheaper..i.e.. 2400 inho

Thanks for the replies. I definitely understand all the points you are making. The first 4 I order will basically be to determine whether or not they are worth the money. One will be for my lil boy, 2 are already sold as soon as they come in and the 4th one will be for me to tear down and review. I don't know how the 170's are made but I've driven the 800cc next to a Rzr and it beat it by 2 lenths. The quality of the parts was very nice. If I like what I see then I'm thinking of buying a container full and retailing them for $2995 each. We'll see if it works out.

#26 ·
Where abouts are you located? If you sell them for $2995 I might be interested.

If you bring these in in numbers there would definately be a profit in them. They are shipped in a crate. I would say you could get at least 25 in a 40 footer. If freight on the container is $3300 that would only be $132/ freight each.

From what I've seen with my own eyes and heard from customers is that the overseas knock-off brands (mostly Chinese) are all extremely poor quality (aka junk). I agree the Polaris 170 (made in Taiwan) is a little on the expensive side, but worth it in quality and parts availability. At least Polaris puts some effort into something for the kids to play on (unlike the other brands).

Bummer the profit on the youth machines barely covers the cost to properly set them up and get them ready for sale.:rm_thumbdown:

Mark - I agree the quality of the 170 definitely leaves alot to be desired. Also that $2995 price is when I buy the full container of 18 units. The initial 4 that I am ordering, Im actually having to sell them for $3300 to break even. There is literally only $100 difference in unit price between 4 and 18 units. The savings comes in being able to spread the shipping over 18 units instead of 4. I'm going to talk to the manufacturer again tomorrow and get more info.

Blackwatch - there are 18 per 40 ft crate and just the shipping is $3750 to the Port of New Orleans. This doesn't take into account port fees or customs fees. There's really not a bunch of profit regardless, unless your moving volume.

XD - i agree that there is alot of junk out there. However, the 800cc that I am talking about had quality as good as any Polaris Ive seen. A mechanic I know tore one down to the bare essentials and you literally could not tell the difference between the Rotax engine and the import engine. Quality was second to none on this one.

More to come tomorrow.
