I haven't heard anything yet, but Arctic Cat recently unveiled their Prowler XTZ 1000 though.

MSRP is 13,999.

Full size pics will be available June 13th

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS

I've got a feeling the Can-Am won't directly rival the RZR, since it will be their first SxS I think they will try to target yet another niche. That way if the model sucks it will at least excel in one or two areas regardless.

Maybe it will go further than the RZR and be a right little racer, or perhaps dominate at off-road capability but not be especially speedy. I don't think they'll go for something more workhorse related though... thats fairly crowded with all the other UTVs and all of Can-Ams other line up shout "recreation" above all else.

If they want one killer function it ought to be the first UTV with amphibious capability like an Argo.

PS: I've not been following the Can-Am development so I've no idea if the direction the design will take has already been set in stone, so forgive me if I've over looked a "Can-Am to go head to head with RZR" style press release!

Either way, more choice and competition has to be a good thing.

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS

I did actually decide to hit google for a bit and see what I could find.

Can-Am themselves denied they would be doing a UTV at all as recently as August 2007, saying the markets too crowded.

One magazine said they would be doing something more RZR than Rhino orientated, though I believe that was purely speculation.

And one website has provided the following specifications:

800cc Rotax engine
IRS suspension
EFI
Dump bed
13" ground clearance

Which appears to be entirely made up though does contradict the other two statements quite nicely.

One thing is clear - until Can-Am themselves say something I think we can ignore all rumours! Furthermore, if Can-Am really wasn't working on a UTV 12 months ago then I wouldn't hold out for any news anytime soon. It seems like such a big undertaking! 2009 release dates has been thrown about but I think no chance - 2011 is another date which seems more realistic. I reckon more like 2012.

In other words - if you're holding off getting a RZR until you've heard about the Can-Am... don't bother!

Ummm you should take back those words. I have been racing against a prowler 750 with the 1000 motor in it for a couple of mud races. They have alot more power than a rzr, might not handle as well, but then again I am 6" lifted so what do I care about handling. Point simple wait till they get seen at your local riding spots and then see what people say about them.

I am not taking back that comment I ride with one almost everyweekend and he will even admit that he can not stay with the rzr until I go to those rhino trails.

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS

We ride with a Prowler, several Rhinos and my RZR - Although the AC is great for towing people out it has issues with clearnance on the trails.

He normally has to take a different path on the tight stuff. One good thing can be said is that the AC has plenty of clearance and with the high seat he does not get wet when sometimes I do..

The ds 450 has yet to finish a gncc with a great result. One of there factory riders that finished in top 10 on a honda 450 went to can am and after 4 races finishing out of the top 30 has went back to honda as a privateer. I think that says a lot when a person who races for a living gives up a paycheck to be on something more competive. BTW i think he finished 7th in the last race on his Honda 450r. Granted can am makes great hp but sometimes it takes more than hp to win races.
and at their price tags....
But I do agree that the rzr needs some competion I am getting board riding out front by myself al the time. LOL

It looks like the driver is wearing a lapbelt... the passenger is holding on for her life.
