Maybe it will go further than the RZR and be a right little racer, or perhaps dominate at off-road capability but not be especially speedy. I don't think they'll go for something more workhorse related though... thats fairly crowded with all the other UTVs and all of Can-Ams other line up shout "recreation" above all else.
If they want one killer function it ought to be the first UTV with amphibious capability like an Argo.
PS: I've not been following the Can-Am development so I've no idea if the direction the design will take has already been set in stone, so forgive me if I've over looked a "Can-Am to go head to head with RZR" style press release!
Either way, more choice and competition has to be a good thing.

Actually Can Am is Going directly after the rzr, And will have a sporty theme not the farm hand utility market type sxs. Be ready for sxs arms race!! I don't have any credible proof of this but I'm only repeating what I heard from one of the Can Am dealer reps.

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS
I just traded my Can-am Spyder to get my RZR S.I was not happy with the Spyder at all..there were issues with the spyder that Can-Am was "blowing off" "waitng for a fix".like Exhaust burning from inside out, breaks squeel like a stuck pig....I no longer ride Ski-ddo and bought a Yamaha Nytro...Very leary of the first yr of BRP products..

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS
Now, what's the first thing you'd do if you were a competitor wanting to build a RZR beater? Well you go buy a couple of RZRs and take them down to their nuts and bolts. Then you'd look at exactly how they made them. Secondly you'd want to find out all the problems with the competition and everything they'd have liked to have seen, well that's easy enough just log in here and have a lookie-see.
Now, you've got the competiton stripped on your R&D lab floor and you know everything that the owners want. So now all you have to do is look at all your existing models to see which parts you can use, and start building. Talk to the bean-counters to see what you can afford to make. Throw in some different plastics to match your company image, and then you've got yourself a nice RZR competitor.
Polaris ahead of the game? Only till the next best thing comes along.

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS
I wouldn't count Can-Am out on their SxS until it is out.
Polaris has done a great job with their RZR and RZR-S but, the competition is very capable.

2010 looks very realistic and yes they are going after the trail/sport market. Check my Can-Am site http://aurorawheelers.com/forum5/

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS
I also heard yamaha is going to redo the rhino. I love my rzr but i have also been a yamaha fan with my yfz450. I also know that when yamaha sets here minds on having the best they will have it. Look at the yfz450, still the best in its class with the best powerplant out of all the 450's. The new raptor 700r dominates as well and so does all there other sport quads, they are all above the competion in their classes. So i would wait to see what yamaha comes out with rather than can-am.

Re: Any word on the Can-am SxS
i was told it is a 1200cc made out of magnesium only about 120lb it will be a screamer but who will be able to afford it? you can put a little in the rzr motor and it will scream. turbo or head pistons cam make it breathe

Polaris has never been ahead of any game... its just that they are the only game in town right now. No one is making anything to directly compete with the Rzr. Notice I said directly... the Rhino and Tyrex will compete depending on the terrain.
The Japanese went middle of the road with all purpose machines. When Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Suzuki decide to build something to compete with the Rzr, it will be over for the Rzr.
Don't get me wrong. I like riding my Rzr, but I hate having to work on it after every ride, I am tired of replacing parts, having to pull a full maintenance after every ride, and wondering if I am going to be spending the night in the middle of nowhere because something broke. The "Lock and Ride" box should have been called the "Spares and Survival" box.

It will still be a Rhino. It's not going to get any sportier, it will still be a bigger UTV with a tipping bed, etc. Question is if they will do another UTV to fit alongside the Rhino. Polaris and Kawasaki are the only two manufacturers with more than one UTV, and with the UTV market strong and the ATV market flat I wouldn't be surprised if more manufacturers have more UTVs.
Honda HAS to be seriously thinking about doing another one - the Big Red is just a workhorse, and this is the company that gave us the Honda Pilot after all. I still can't believe Suzuki havn't commited to a UTV yet, it's a no-brainer and sums up how half witted they are in the car market too.

I kind of agree in a way, though the RZR is still "new". It will be interesting to see what it's like after a similar duration of development as the Rhino. I think you need to look at the relative reliability of Polaris ATVs vs the competition though, they're still going to be inferior. It's good that companies such as Gorilla and Dragonfire have made tougher replacement parts. But I confess I too will be switching (probably to something Japanese) the moment a comparable product comes along. It will probably look like a piece of shit mind you.
