CA New Honda Pioneer 700

So here's the new Honda. Looks a lot like the Ranger in the front which is way better than the ugly ass Big Red. 2,3,4 seater options is kind of cool, but still uses same 675 cc motor as the Big Red. Better suspension too.

Maybe it can compete with a stock Rhino 660 from 7 years ago????
Maybe one of these days Honda will make a sport sxs...in the mean time I'll stick the the rzr.

Re: New Honda Pioneer 700

The story I got was 3 new sxs models from Honda this summer to directly compete in the sport market. While I trust the person who told me I have heard this so many times concerning Honda that I'll believe when I see it.

Re: New Honda Pioneer 700

I think for those of us who have kids and like to trail ride with them that the Pioneer 4 has some really cool features. Wish Polaris would of thought of the seats in the bed deal. The only neg I see is the lack of power, needs an 850 or so.

2012 RZR 900 XP Voodoo blue, Viper elite 4000, Polaris Rock Sliders, Polaris A Arm Guards, LSR High Clearance Rear Radius Arms, 27" Bighorns, Cooter Brown top, EMP Front and rear windshields, and Lil Mule cargo rack.

Re: New Honda Pioneer 700

Honda and Yamaha have some serious brand loyal fans out there from 30 years of quad and dirtbike riders. Both just have farm vehicles at this point but when they decide to come out with a sport machine yhe game will be changed. Till then, RZR is king.

I have seen some of these on the trails. They do very well with good tires and maybe a 2" lift.

Yea, I picked up a Pioneer 4 the other day. Its not the power house that my 900XP is but it is plenty capable on the trails. If all I rode was the dunes, (which I never have) it would be underpowered I'm sure but for trail riding with the wife and kids it's really nice. I plan on putting bigger wheels and tires on it next week. I'll post some pic's when I get a chance.

Re: New Honda Pioneer 700

Do these have the 3spd car style transmission like the big red?

Gfs dad has a big red. Thing looks cool. Around here it keeps up fine. Get to altitude or really pulling hills and that 3spd tranny just doesnt hold up.

I drug him all around CO with my xp. I think the motor had the power. But the tranny and gearing wasnt there. And this wasnt really hardcore stuff.

Actually I still have the xp, I sold my can am outlander 800r. Was going to replace it with an 850xp but the P4 is so much more versatile and about the same money as a big bore quad thati went that way instead. I guess we'll see if the xp gets used much now if it doesn't it may get sold. The xp is allot if fun to drive but I can only take one passenger. To be honest for the mountain trail riding we do if the honda P4 would have come out before I bought my xp I probably wouldn't own a rzr.

Not exactly like the BR, it is the same tranny but the pioneer has a two mode controler that switches between cruise trail mode and sport mode depending on how your driving it. Sport mode acts like a shift kit and holds on to the gear longer letting the engine rev higher.

Thats a huge improvement then. Something like that or a low range is critcial at 10k+ feet.

Yes, I think it's an improvement but for the guys who want to go fast and shoot the highest dunes the pioneer isn't your machine. For those of us that have kids we want to spend time with on the trails and in the mountains it's a good option. The rzr 4 and all the other 4 seat utvs are just too long imo you might as well get a jeep. Can't load Em on a trailer sideways and loading them on end ways they take up the whole trailer. I don't know that's just my thoughts
