Anyone heard of the Odes brand UTVs? My buddys dad just got one and is claiming this has the same motor as a Can am 800, Rhino suspension and design. Its hard to find any information out there but I know this is a china UTV, that is copying off the Big 3. They seem kinda expensive for being china made IMHO.
Not sure if the motor is the 'same' but yeah, Can-Am internals anyway...details are worded carefully. Could call these guys, forum vendor, who appear to be a dealer...
Interesting. Thanks for the link. I was looking at the smaller models that look exactly like the pitster 150 in white, but are shown with the wheels and tires from the pitster black LE.
but the more interesting thing to me is that they have TWO models. A "mini" and a "mid" size. The bigger model claims to have longer wheelbase and more room for an adult. Hmmm.
If anyone has more specs on the Odes mini and mid, please share. I wonder which matches the pitster models and which came first.
Ride Report: I rode/drove a 2013 odes dominator today. Here is what I think. Coming from a 2011 RZR s, XP, and a 2012 Ranger XP 800 here is my view on it. First thing I notice is its huge. 64 inchs wide. They basically took the body/design of a yamaha rhino and put 6 inch wide plastic rivited fender flares on it. The entire body/interior has the cheap plastic rivits on it. fit and finish of all the plastic, window fitmet, interior, dash, controls was typical china quality. The motor sounded to run good. The trans seemed to have a low speed hitch when going from a stop to a move. The axle boots had zip ties holding them tight to axles (not steel band clamps). The ignition looked to be out of a 60s china made car. The interior noise is LOUD!!!! the engine has a vent right between the two passengers, so you hear a lot of engine noise. There is no back wall behind the seats so road debris comes off the rear tires and into the front compartment. This was annoying as I had all kinds of dirt on me. The rear bumper is a really really shady setup. If you even look at it wrong it will be bent at the mounts. The brakes are the weakest I have felt on a UTV.....and it makes sense as it doesnt have 4 wheel disk, it has a rear diff brake that looks to be the size of the brake used on an early polaris scrambler. I did like the hydraulic raising rear bed. Pretty cool feature. It also had a front and rear winch, which was nice. The seats were comfortable and good lumbar support. I noticed when i drove it it had terrible amount of bump steer. Every bump you hit it transfered back into the steering wheel. Also considering it is a utility side by side it had a very small rear bed. A polaris ranger bed would be much wider and longer.
Overall its what I expected for a china made rhino clone. Quality/fit and finish was crap. I fully expect he will have lots of issues with it within a year. Im already seeing issues with idle fluctuation between 1500-2000 rpms. It wouldnt go from High to Neutral without grinding. A few rubber gromets are missing so it vibrates like mad. I would not reccomend this to anyone I know. This would be a great UTV for $4000, for $9000 you would be stupid to consider when you can get close to that range for a Polaris ranger XP 800.

this is old news ( from a rzr fan) odes utvs are built high quality and are the best prices and they are currently faster per engine cc than any other utv on market dont waste your money on a over priced pol rzr etc
A buddy of mine has one and literally spends more time fixing it then riding . You get what you pay for is all I can say , also trying to sell them is like trying to sell the plague . Jm2c
We own this and I would agree with the problems the brakes and debris. However, it is very similar to a rhino and they should move the radiator and put in a larger fan for overheating. This is the only problems we have had with ours. Not a bad deal for the cost of the 4-seater. Some of us are happy saving some money.
good to hear, glad its working well for you:ride: Im not sure what the going price is your area but around me an odes is $9000, and you can buy a polaris ranger XP 800 for $10,500. I think the odes is a good machine but not for a price thats within spitting distance of a Polaris.
let me tell ya odes has improved Rhino chassis, better drivetrain and guess who makes the motors for can am?????? ODES! lol she don't have a clone motor in it, if your getting technical the can am has theclone in it!
the only thing i will say is the stock skid plate blows...i used 3/8 aluminum and 1/4 Teflon lol i dont get hung up!
I recently purchased a 2013 4 seater Odes Dominator 800cc. I have owned both Polaris and CanAm machines in the past.
I will admit I was skeptical when a buddy of mine tried to sell me on the Odes machine.
The Odes 4 seater was at a very attractive price point will all essential accessories included with the purchase.
Being a weekend trail rider, I do not ride my machines hard or put them under too much stress.
With that said, I am very very impressed with the Odes. The Frame, suspension, tie rods, and overall build quality is impressive for the price point. The overall ride is very impressive. Seating is comfortable and accommodating. For 800cc, has more than adequate power. The engine braking is amazing on this machine!
I will admit, from the research that I have done, I would not own a Odes model that was built prior to 2013. The 2013 models are totally redesigned from a build quality standpoint.
I cannot tell you how many riders have stopped me on the trail asking what type of machine I was in. After they look at it, sit in it, and know what I paid for it, they seem very interested to find out more details.
I purchased my machine from Legacy Powersports in Alabama. For $9k out the door, I don't know if I will ever own anything else.
Polaris is still the "legend" in my opinion for bringing the industry to where we are today.
If you are a casual weekend rider that needs a dependable 4 seater with a good safe family ride, but with the power and handling to play a little, give this machine a look.
For about half the price of a comparable Polaris or CanAm, I took my chances.
Its now 2014 and the odes dominator is awesome and i pre ordered the new 800 raider its the answer to the rzr .... Nice machine odes has done a nice job i heard odes is soon to offer the 1000cc motor !!!!!!!
I have a couple of friends who have ( had ) an Odes.We went out with them on four rides, the Odes broke down three times! It's probably ok to putt around in,but sometimes you get what you pay for. I also looked at cheaper brands and am thankful that my husband stuck to his guns on a "Po Po".Granted, any machine can break down, but so far my baby has took us there and brought us back!
my buddy got one of these last fall. it has done very well for him. replacement components are not readily available so you have to wait for them to ship or find a substitute
All I know about them chinese built clones is this . A 70 year old man that trail rides with us bought one 3 years ago. Not sure of make now but it looked like a Rhino. It was far from a Yamaha build quality , constantly broke down and waiting on parts . At 600 miles he had enough of it and tried to trade it in , no other dealers would even consider taking it in trade . He paid 8,000 for it and with 600 miles finally sold it outright for 3,500. All in the same riding season. Again don;t know the name but looked like rhino. the dealer also dropped them after 2 years because they were horrible junk.
Maybe they have improved from 3 years ago, hard to tell because nobody we ride with has any after Phil's ordeal. this may be different brand from what he had .
Well them double winches aren't a bad thing. When it breaks and you are waiting 6 months for parts, bring it home and place it between 2 properly spaced tree's and cinch both winches tight. It will be suspended off the ground a couple of feet and you and the wife can use it for a seat swing in the shade lol.
I Bought a 2014 Dominator 800 in April 2014.I paid $10,000 through a dealership in Elko Nevada ,who just after I bought it quit selling ODEs because of a warranty disagreement with Odes. I've ridden every vehicle out there. And have lots of experience with rhinos. This is a rhino on steroids that I nicknamed hemriod. First the good.. I have 1500 miles so far. Motor works great, not a single issue. Now the bad.. 4 wheel drive actuator went bad the second week I had it .that got covered under warranty. then the bolt that holds my drive line into the front of the motor backed itself out and broke off halfway. So I had to extract it. then I noticed that all my tires were wiggling funny checked wheel bearings and all of them were completely rusted and done. this was after about 3 weeks of Riding every other day. Then my steering tie rod broke right off. The same week my rear stabilizer bar tie rod on drivers side cracked the bracket that it's bolted to and ripped out. Then a little bit later a bolt behind the secondary clutch wiggled loose and bounced around my primary and secondary and Destroyed both the primary and secondary.fixed it all myself no warranty help. Then my rear end started making a nasty grinding and vibration. stopped looked and the place where the rear differential bolts to the frame Was broken. not bolts but the frame itself was cracked with no impact from hitting anything. Well rhinos have had this same problem which they make a bracket to support the frame from body rolling too much. Odes does not have this bracket which if they had enough experience with the Rhino they should have put this on already. that is just the problems that happened that I didn't cause. the bottom line is if you drive like a grandpa it will stay together just fine but if you ride it like you stole it then its going to break quick. not to mention I had to buy aftermarket shocks because the stock suspension is so stiff I was hurting my back every time I went for a ride. I'm trying my hardest not to hate odesutvs.com. but when I call looking for help or sympathy they are not people who truly know there machine or give a rats ass. I've had 5 quads in my life and 3 bikes. I've rebuilt and upgraded every motor myself. Never had a problem. I either have got the worst lemon on the planet or odes sucks. Hope this helps anyone looking to buy.
