Street legal on forest roads Wa.

I was up elk hunting this last week and heard rumor that a new law passed two weeks ago for side x sides to be legal to ride on forest roads. I don't know the details on what it takes to get them legal. I heard turn signals and a windshield. Has any one heard anything?

Side by sides that are street legal still can't ride on forest service roads as of now. Only on county roads that each county has designated. Forest service does not accept the new law. To make side by side street legal you need a horn, turn signals, and license plate holder. Windshield is only needed if eye wear is not worn.

I heard that even thought the law passed, counties had a year to decide what (if any) additionals they wanted to add to it. So therefore, you still couldn't get tags. I think that year is up in March or something... And then at least the minimums would apply...

Re: Street legal on forest roads Wa.

The law that passed was for county roads. mForest Service roads are not a county road. The Forest Service is not acknowledging the new law. A letter was sent to the Forest Service saying if they did not accept the new law the State of Washington is going to sue them. That is what I was told by a president of a ATV club.
I know that Okanogon and Chelan county have opened up county roads to SXS. City of East Wenatchee has also done so. Don't what Douglas county is doing yet.
You will have to check each county to see if OHV are allowed on county roads.
Most counties are not sure what to do with the new law so they will proably do nothing unless you speak up. I know that is what happened in Chelan county.
