Not an impluse buyer, so am researching side-by-sides to death before purchasing. Just talked with a salesman, and he admitted several RZR engine failures he was aware of. I said "from young hot rodders?" and he responded "one was a 72-year old that had TWO engine failures, and had to walk out 8 miles on the last." So, any feedback from the group would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! I've got 600 mi on one, have added a DFR cannister, to avoid dust in the intake. I'm 71 and sure don't want to walk 8 miles. Most day trips are 50 mi round trip in the woods and 1/3 are alone. I carry a spot tracker to let people know where I am. I have not seen a thread since I got mine in April with anyone talking about a RZR stranding them.

Rick,

Thanks for the feedback, and happy to hear from someone using a RZR for my side-by-side future use. I presume you looked at other machines, but is the RZR ideal for exploring the American outback? I live in rural Nevada whereas literally 98% of the surrounding countryside is open to travel with a SxS. Don't even have to trailer the machine to escape town. I realize Polaris is not as reliable as Honda, but the small, agile, and narrow RZR looks to be the ideal machine. In neighboring Utah there are many trails a wider machine is not permitted. Has the reliability of your RZR been good? Also an old-timer at 66, so happy to hear RZR's are not just for the young crowd.
