The new guy

New to the site, just thought I would see what these RZRs are all about. I am new to these but not new to the off-road world. I have ridden dirt bikes for years and thinking it’s time to switch. I was going to go with a nice ATV or sport quad like a raptor but these have caught my attention.

So my question is how are these on quad trails? I was looking up the specs of the standard RZR (not the Sport) and it was only 3" wider then my friends Kawasaki 4x4 quad, which wouldn’t be too bad for getting in and around the trees but the RZR S was quite a bit wider. If I went with one of these I think I would go with the RZR S but not sure how it would do in the trees with its wider width.

So anyone who has one of these let me know how it is and what you use it for.

Re: The new guy

Welcome to the forum! Rzr S seems alot wider but it really isn't. I use mine for tight trail riding to Wide f open trails, rock crawling, and Dune riding. The extra height and smooth ride are way better out in the trails. Even if you plan to ride solo in a RZR it is far more fun than a quad. At least to me.

Thank you

humm so these can really do everything a 4x4 ATV can and more (with the rock crawling). How do they do on steep hill climbs? Because I was out this past weekend which is what made me start to look into the ATV or RZR since I couldn’t go anywhere or climb anything with my bike but my buddies ATV was powering up insanely steep hills and snow/ice didn’t slow him down at all. But I am not sure how the RZR would be since you can't lean over the front wheels like he was.

Ya this is true. There are some areas I was in this past week end were it was tight even for the ATV, but I imagine some Austin Powers back and forth maneuvers could have gotten me threw it.

Another question is how far back do these go? Like did they make them in 2000 or 2001? Also how much do the older models typically go for?

Welcome to the forum, and no they are not 5 speeds, they are 2 speed automatics, and you have to stop to shift high to low and back again. Selective 4 wheel drive, which is actually all wheel drive, it only engages when you spin a rear tire, I think a 3rd if a turn.

ah ok... well I may have to pull the trigger on one of these. lol my last ride this season was this past weekend and the bike ran perfect all day then 20feet from the truck the engine seized on me which I think I had a valve float on me since there is plenty of oil and coolant still, but this gives me a reason to move on to a RZR
