Re: Mt Charleston Nevada?

Hey blackdog,

I live on the Vegas side and have been on both sides. There is a road (Wheeler Road) that goes from Pahrump over the hill at Wheeler Pass to th town of Cold Creek on the Vegas side. If you send me a PM I can send you a email with some US Forest Service Maps. The best way to see where to go is Google Earth. There are a lot of trails out of Pahrump and they are ATV Friendly. Wheeler Pass on the Pahrump side is really nice easy trails. ON the Vegas side it is rough lots of rocks and at this time of the year snow, about 12-18".

Good Luck

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest - About Us - SMNRA
download the maps in red box. This is all you need. It is easy to ride there.

Wheeler Pass, Tecopa Kilns, Nevada !
info on kilms

I ride mine ATV there. In town, Wheeler pass 1 road and drive up to the water tank or higher. A sand pit where I park 1/2 mile above the water tank. You will see a Wheeler pass 2 road east/south side of town. It will meet below the big dip. Once you get the big dip. "The river bed" You can go up road to gate or turn left in the river bed. Going to gate on left, you will see a road that connect to the river bed. So no need to go back to river bed. At gate you see old saw mill. Come down from gate on right take you to the top of river bed. Once you get where the top of the river bed meet the road there a small trail that is tree cover on right side. Just remember the main road is on the left side. Turn left get back on the main road going north. You will see coke kilm on left. Stay on that road to the Wheeler pass. At the pass looking north you can see A bomb test site. There is nothing on the other side just a small town and no gas. As you come down from pass, on the right side there is a road and it down just above kilns. There just a little roads loop around above the Y above kilns. A old cabin I saw, but that was it. When coming out take river bed and it end up at the dip. Make sure you take gas. If I remember, it like a 40 to 60 mile trip and that why I got a bigger tank.

Just remember that if it raining stay out of the river bed!

When I ride, it a none stop to the pass do to all road is marked.

There is a road 15 mile out of town that is by a water tank. Someone said there a was a small lake. It on the list too do.

Re: Mt Charleston Nevada?

Hey Chase.

How did the RZR do on the Cold Creek side. When I did it on my ATV it was very rocky and beat the hell out of me. The other side was great. Have you been up Harris Springs Road yet? The RZR did well in the snow. I also have a post looking for other RZR owners in the Las Vegas Area. I am trying to set up day trips as well as weekends. I was going to try to start a local Vegas RZR Club. If you are interested let me know.

Re: Mt Charleston Nevada?

That should'nt be a problem, last time up, my buddy brought his Ranger Crew and had no problems getting around no hassles from local law enforcement. The RV park has no problems with riding in and out of park. I belive you can head up Homestead cross the main Highway and your on your way.

Mojo211,

Sounds good. Let me know the same when you go out. I see you are in henderson, I am northwest at 95/durango. I ride a lot out at Mt Charleston for quick day rides. I also go to Jean and Nelson. Where do you like to rid an how long have you been riding?

Re: Mt Charleston Nevada?

A Vegas RZR club would be cool. I live in Henderson but work primarily in Los Angeles. I still take my RZR out there from time to time. I live about 15 miles from the dry lake bed off the 95 going to towards Searchlight.

Gibson exhaust, Holz Racing clutch kit, Fleet Guard air box, AMR graphics(used to make template), 2" spacers, Custom switch panel, Relocated voltage regulator, HID headlights, 50 watt electric air horn, Red and Blue strobes in headlights, Vision Outback wheels, Red flame shock covers, 5½" Marine speakers with 300w amp, 5 panel rear view mirror, RZR overhead storage bag, Lock and Ride gas can, Lock and Ride rear rack, DG rear bumper, Temp gauge installed.

Re: Mt Charleston Nevada?

Only been riding for 5 months now. I really like to ride out at Dumont Dunes and Sand Hollow UT. Haven't rode a whole lot locally except for Apex.
I want to plan a ride out to MT Charleston soon, sounds like there is some cool trails out there. If anyone is planning a ride out there let me know.

Re: Mt Charleston Nevada?

I have rolled mine Predator in the Mojave river and did not get hurt. After that the rzr came out and just been look in to them.
A couple years ago I can across the weekend before the Primm race at Jean. When I started to get on the track and fig out that they setup with arrows sign to point the way around. It will be fun to run it like they do. Maybe even do a stop watch time race with it.

The other place I rode is Good Spring to Blue Diamond road. It a flat road. There is some mines on the north side on t

Don't tell but I cross over the gate the road going up to Mt P. When driving on I15 looking at Mt P you will see a black road. That road is like 70 degree. They must have some good 4x4 to take the stuff up there.

Use to have a web page of two guys atv riding around Vegas. One trip was by Lake Mead there is there a gem mine. It out by the drywall mine.

There is two turtles area where speed is control. The Boulder city across from the dry lake and there is on Jean to Good spring on the south of the road. I think 20 mph.

You may want to look at the Las Vegas atv club for trip ideas too. http://www.dunesandtrailsatv.org/
