Re: Best Place to ride in Arkansas
Like Matt said, Mack's Pines is a Private Campground in the National Forest on AR Hwy 7, just north of Dover AR. The trails on the east side (Mack's side) of 7 are not marked, and you should use caution and or a GPS system to navigate back in there. There is every type of trail you can imagine. You could ride for a week back in there, and only criss cross trails now and then. Mack's is the only choice for camping with water and electric. It's ok, and that's about all it is. They have ice, a small cafe and limited camp supplies.
Across the road from Mack's Pines Campground is Mocassin Gap recreation area. There, the trails are well marked, but you could get it all done in one day. Way better maintained, and nothing too treacherous that I can remember. There is a US Forest Service camp area about a half a mile north of Mack's on the west side of the road. 1 central water spigot, no elec and pit toilets. Pretty, but primative.
Be aware, it is in a dry county, and the closest town with fuel and groceries is about 12 miles to the south, nothing to the north for 35 miles.
