Best Place to ride in Arkansas

I want to go to Arkansas to ride. What is the best place to go? My friends and I like no LOVE to ride FAST. We also like the technical stuff like hill climbs and what not just not big fans of mud riding. Would like to ride in an area that has alot of trails as I dont want to ride everything in a day or few hours. Dont know if we should go to Macks Pines, WolfPen Gap or Moccasin Gap or somewhere else I havent heard of. Any help from the locals would be greatfully appreciated, also we would like advise on where to stay at said location.

Re: Best Place to ride in Arkansas

you can check out some of the Rzr rally threads and see that the guys that come to macks have a blast. If you are in a small group you can ride it fast, but its sometimes tight, and on the bottom of the mtns you cross creeks and hit mud (there are ways around it). Wolfpen gap in mena is decent i hear, but is almost like riding on a paved road system. Moccasin gap that im thinking off is right across the street from macks, and thus is similar terrain. Just remember its arkansas, hills, mud, creeks, and tight trails will be the norm not the exception.

Re: Best Place to ride in Arkansas

Like Matt said, Mack's Pines is a Private Campground in the National Forest on AR Hwy 7, just north of Dover AR. The trails on the east side (Mack's side) of 7 are not marked, and you should use caution and or a GPS system to navigate back in there. There is every type of trail you can imagine. You could ride for a week back in there, and only criss cross trails now and then. Mack's is the only choice for camping with water and electric. It's ok, and that's about all it is. They have ice, a small cafe and limited camp supplies.
Across the road from Mack's Pines Campground is Mocassin Gap recreation area. There, the trails are well marked, but you could get it all done in one day. Way better maintained, and nothing too treacherous that I can remember. There is a US Forest Service camp area about a half a mile north of Mack's on the west side of the road. 1 central water spigot, no elec and pit toilets. Pretty, but primative.
Be aware, it is in a dry county, and the closest town with fuel and groceries is about 12 miles to the south, nothing to the north for 35 miles.

If you like rock crawling give Super Lift a look. Its in Hot Springs and has a WIDE range of stuff from high speed trails to things I cant imagine a RZR getting up! Superlift ORV Park in Hotsprings, Arkansas

Jack Mountain AKA the Ross Foundation is also in the area and has lots of high speed stuff but nothing technical. The Ross Foundation

The trail's around Mack's pine are great if you have somebody that know's the aera..GPS is highly recomened very easy to get lost there! I have Been twice to wolf pen gap & the trails are nice & fast & well marked in side the park & tons of trails out side the park also.. but not marked so again the GPS with bread crumbs work the best for me

Mocassin gap is...wolfpen is in mena. Well the main one. I think there is a "wolfpen" up around macks but its more of a local term.
