Black Hills UTV Rally

I noticed there is no regional forum for WY, MT, SD and ND, so I thought I'd post this here. Does anyone else plan on going to the Black Hills UTV Rally outside of Rapid City Labor Day weekend?

Really, why is that? It must be that we are really in fly over country! We only have 10,000 miles of forest system roads and trails(for now, will be cut back to around 4,000 miles with the new travel plan). Maybe we are in Canada? Maybe we're in a third dimension?

Oh yeah, I will be there. I will have to work it but if people don't break too much stuff I should get to play, too.

Just go to this link. We have a cabin reserved at the Covered Wagon Resort across the highway from the rally park.

Re: Black Hills UTV Rally

We are just loading the RZR on the trailer and heading for Rapid City. I'm not taking anything that normally isn't on the RZR or in the trailer tool box. I am pretty much running a stock machine with only the addition of a winch, windshield, soft top and storage box and bags and a few window dressing type items.

We were in Rapid City last year at the same time just vacationing. Weather will most likely be in the 70-80 degree range and always the chance of rain, especially in the evening.

The windshield; I would take it off just to protect it from road damage. You get through most trails with your windshield on.

As for gas better safe than sorry. You should be able to do the runs on a tank. There use to be a couple of gas stops on some trail rides but they're really busy and one has burned down. Me, I'm carrying my own can of gas.

Pack the way you would pack an all day run back home. Add in a rain coat and a sweater. You can be out all day so bring the supplies you need to have a fun day.

ya i guess i never thought about road damage to the windshield.....ya i might also bring a little gas, rain coat, tools, tow straps um....cant think right now...anyone else got some ideas???

Also are the trails....narrow?? ya i guess but hows the height?? i have a safari rack and MIGHT have lights on it by then so they will stick up an extra 12" on top?? do i need to worry about trees ripping them off??

Re: Black Hills UTV Rally

When we are going only a short distance, we just drive. If we have to go more than about 1/2 hour, we cover the RZR with the factory cover. I am most concernered with stuff flying up and hitting it and the effects on the soft top, etc. from the high wind at highway speeds.

Or i could buy a Enclosed Trailer....would be SWEET but prolly not before the rally.....
