Re: HID or LED?

HID's will give you MUCH better light BUT you'll pay the price.
As an example a 4 inch Fuego halogen compared to a HID Fuego assembly is 120 versus 400.

Re: HID or LED?

There are new LEDs that output an incredible amount of light. They last 100,000 hours and are shockproof. Sounds perfect, doesn't it? It takes several of these expensive LEDs combined in an array to equal the output of a driving light so they cost $500 for a 12" lamp.
Remember how expensive HID was at first? You can buy a 2-lamp kit for under $100 now. High-output LEDs are the 'new thing', wait a couple years and they'll be selling cheaper than HID.

Re: HID or LED?

guy48065,

Are you referring to converting the headlight to HID for under $100?

I have not seen add on HID that include the bucket and lens for $100 a pair. Cheapest I've seen is $109 each.

Re: HID or LED?

If some of you may want to divorce your lights from the charging system or even pick up some auxillary long throw or side spill lights running on rechargeables; you may want to keep a close eye out for the LED flashlights now hitting the market. The runtimes are not 'all night long' obviously; yet you pick up some versatality; mounts are easily attainable (or fabbable) and the output on these things is pretty darn impressive. The Cree Q5 and Rebel emitters seem to be the most advanced or widely availiable right now; with the 'R' bins just being released. If you really want to spend some time being 'mindboggled' by what industry is coming up with in all phases of lighting today...check out this site for everything that that you ever wanted to know about LEDS, HIDS, etc. and for some great tutorials about batteries/chargers in general. CandlePowerForums
CPFMarketPlace - Powered by vBulletin (excellent place to look for deals and dealers)

Probably my favorite new light is the first product from these guys now on their way to Plano, TX for further distribution: ZebraLight, High Performance LED Lighting
They have better 'throw' lights in CR123 and 18650 rechargeable lithium-ions now in development; yet I've not found a better pure flood light for everyday use and carry (accessories incl.). Obviously, LEDs of all types will soon be less expensive (for outrageously cheap lights see http://www.kaidomain.com/WEBUI/SubCa...0Fla shlights and DealExtreme: Cree Lights ) but if you want a light for working on the Rzr (or anywhere else) that you will soon forget is even there...give these new LEDs a try and wonder how you ever got by before without them.

Re: HID or LED?

Versatality vs fixed mount... https://www.foxfury.com/products/pro...bike_3watt.htm

If anybody is familiar with (my old favorite) the M6 Surefire SureFire High Power Flashlights - M6® Guardian® it puts out 500 lumens (incandescent).
Neither of the above lights are rechargeables.

Edit: This light also runs on RCR123 rechargeables with a dummy cell
