Angry No Blinking Fuel Guage =Ran Out Of Gas

Has anyone had trouble with the fuel guage NOT blinking when you are low on fuel. The only way I can get mine to blink is by "pulling the blink codes". (Turn the key off and on 3 times in 5 seconds or less.) I think the guage is supposed to blink on it's own. Isn't it? No fun running out of gas! The only time that was fun was on a date.

UGHHHH Yeah shifting was a problem sometimes. How many miles can you get on a full tank and whats the most amount of gas you put in?

I fill it up, about 7 gallons I believe, I figure 60 miles per tank, but I know I get 75 - i also carry two 5 gallon cans.

I think the speedo needle is supposed to blink when fuel is low, But I've never seen it.

Yes according to the manual it is supposed to blink. However mine does not. The only way it will is if I "pull the blink codes" by turning the key off/on 3 times. You may want to run it low enough to find out. Better to know before rather than after you run out of gas like I did.

Do you know how much fuel it took to refill after you ran out? I have heard some say they still had close to 3 gallons left in there tanks. Not sure if they actually ran out though.

That's true. When my last bar is used up I can only get 4 gallons in and it is a 7 gallon tank. Sure would be nice if the speedo would start to blink say when you had maybe 1/2 gallon to 1 gallon left.

So you actually burned the 3 gallons after your gage read empty? I guess what I was getting at is a 7 gallon tank does no good if you run out with 3 left in the tank. lol

Dusty that's right I burn the last 3 gallons after the gauge reads empty. Then when the gauge starts to blink I'm out of fuel. I'm wondering if there is any adjustment on the fuel sending unit so that the gauge could be "tweekd" to read more accurately?

When the gauge reads empty, you can put in 5 gallons to fill it. I can go a ways before it will flash.

I don't know but with 2 left I couldn't get 5 gallons in. I've never got an entire 5 gallon can in and I don't carry one although I keep them at camp. I carry two 2 1/2's because they are much easlier to manage and I don't spill as much.

I get the idea that neither the fuel gage or the speedo are worth a darn. I've always got the GPS with me and have never managed more than 54 mph stock. I'm either waved off by the wife because she's looking at the 60+ on the speedo or because of the bouncing stock shocks.

Re: No Blinking Fuel Guage =Ran Out Of Gas

Thought I'd mention Today my Fuel Gage started blinking. The whole fuel bar and gas pump ikon, plus the word Fuel were alternately blinking in the display. I'll have to fill it and see how much it takes from this point.

It hasn't been driven since the last bar went off, though I've had it running a few times since.
