iPod, Amp, Speaker How To and Help?

I'm a newbie here and have been looking around but haven't been able to find a lot of information on iPod setups for the RZR.

I have a 2010 RZR LE and I'm looking for the best cost effective setup to hookup an iPod. I already have 4 really nice 5 1/4" Polk speakers but really only planned on using two of them. I would need an enclosure for the speakers and some kind of amp with an iPod hookup.

I've seen some marine Pyle amps but I was thinking that Pyle was junk, am I wrong? I just want something that sounds pretty good but I don't want to throw a ton of money at it. Some of the roof speaker enclosures are so expensive.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Super atv dot com has a speaker box for 50 bucks or less that will fit ur speakers. autotoys dot com has a 150 watt mini amp with optional ipod cable also around 50 bucks to ur door. This amp drives my 2 way jbl marine speakers really well. Hope this helps.

Re: iPod, Amp, Speaker How To and Help?

Wal-Mart has a cheap speaker box with speakers for like $ 25-$30 bucks. I bought the box with the intentions of changing out the speakers it came with and putting my marine seaworthys in there place but I decided not to because they didnt look bad at all. On my 4, it wedged right in on the back side of the roll cage perfectly. I bought one of those sharks motorcycle amps and it was JUNK so i bought a Pyle and been happy with it and it was cheap !!

Mount the speakers in a 6"pvc cap for an enclosure, or my decision was I Just installed the shark stereo in mine. Will post some pics in a day or two. Google shark stereo. $125ish for an amp with built in radio, usb,sd card, and Ipod ipod/iphone input, and full waterproof speakers. Cheap and pretty loud. in the end, cheaper than me buying all the stuff to do my own. Good luck.

Re: iPod, Amp, Speaker How To and Help?

If someone wants to use PVC caps, use flat caps vs dome ones. You can cut a 5 1/8 hole for 6 1/2" marine speakers. If you think you will need to extend it a bit with a piece of pipe STAY AWAY from schedule 40. You have to buy a whole stick for over a hundred bucks. Go with 30-34 sewer pipe and fittings which are different(green pipe). You can get some pipe lying around at a site or from a plumber buddy etc. I am a residential builder and it took me over a month to get a free 4' piece of 6" schedule 40!

I checked out the Shark Stereo and it looks pretty good for the price. Does it come with a cord for an iPod or do you need to buy that separately? Where did you mount the amp, speakers, etc? I'm assuming you go the 250W model, did you get black or chrome?

Re: iPod, Amp, Speaker How To and Help?

I went with the Pyle PLMRKT4A 4-Channel Waterproof MP3/iPod Amplified 6.5-Inch Marine Speaker System from amazon.com..seems to work good for a entry level system but i am adding a Pyle 600w marine amp and 10" sub. i used 6 inch schedule 40 plumbing pvc pipe for my enclosure. You can buy the amp from amazon to cheapest place i found. it comes with a aux cable that plugs into any headphone jack

Re: iPod, Amp, Speaker How To and Help?

[QUOTE=MOUNTAINEER221;807539]http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7Ztu0Ob4KO4this set up isnt hard either. polk audi pa-330 amp used off ebay for bout 60 bucks. u can get pyle marine 7.7 speakers ive used them they arent bad. the pyle amps are total junk. ive seen several blow and are way over rated on the power. u can use the i-plug kit to connect amp to ipod ( bought mine at advance auto parts) 14 bucks. a pelican case for the mp3 if you mud bogg like us and your set.

Are you using a aftermarket battery? if so which one?
