regulator?

alright we all know that some people are having problems with the regulator and moving it up front to keep it cool so everything works better. My question is, can it be bypassed if its such an issue or use something else(not sure what yet still trying to figure that out). Any ideas would be helpful. also if you have moved yours upfront like it is in the 09s(heard but not seen yet). can you show some pics currious to see how you all have mounted them thanks.

Wouldn't that put it in the hot engine area and defeat the purpose? Maybe I'm not understanding. Could you post a pick? I'm also wondering how it's mounted on the 09's, and would it be possible to just buy the extended wiring harness from Polaris and plug & play, or do I have to do all the soldering?

Re: regulator?

you got a point about the engine heat, i rode mine on a cool evening and it was getting hot. And i think you do have to do some soldering though boatnaz

Re: regulator?

When moving the regulator to the front, you would think that Polaris would have made a wiring harness extension that just plugs in, so anyone with the older versions could have a quick fix.

Re: regulator?

i moved mine to the front center of the rad., with the fins pointing forward. this mod solved my blinking batt. display. this requires good soldering skills and a lot of wire, 50+' all togather, i used 12 ga. wire for all except the tach signal wire, 16 ga. there. made my reg mount out of .100 alum. sheet stock. i have pics., but don't know how to post, pm me with e mail add. and i can do that.

Re: regulator?

IF I find time I'm going to tackle this project this weekend. Headed to the dunes the 24th and I'm sick of seeing that batt light flash, plus I hate to spend the money on a new battery when mine is perfectly fine!
RGerber: Has your batt light came on since you did your mod?

Re: regulator?

My battery light came on one time when I first got my RZR over a year ago. Soon is that happened I went down and bought a Optima and the RPM battery holder.

I have never looked back, I demand dependability in my equipment, I do not want to ride 40 miles from camp to have a failure.

As far as the regulator Mod I did, I have put about 4 tanks of gas thru it ( all in the dunes at Pismo ) and all is good. The Dez is next so that is where I ride long, but I feel good about it. And did not have to splice wires.

Re: regulator?

I just added a fan to cool the reg when the key is on.
Only 1 trip out with the fan, so far, so good.

Re: regulator?

i use this area for my tool box, extra belt ect. so it had no air flowing at all, i just fliped it around inside out. - i belive all will be good there, i am not in the mud and its far enough away from the engine also.

time will tell.

main thing is i did not want to splice the harness without at least trying this first.
