just got back from the Off Road Expo here in Cali. Most every truck/buggy that I stuck my head in was using Lowrance system or systems.

Re: Which GPS to Run?
Not into racing, just not getting lost or tagging awesome locations. I use a Garmin 60CSx since it's portable and I can use it for other applications with a RAM mount. Here's some pics....

Re: Which GPS to Run?
If your budget minded you can pick up a Garmin Vista HCx for about $220.00 on line. It stores way points and trails. The screen isn't huge but I flush mounted mine on the dash behind the steering wheel with an Axxis Alloy mount and I can see it just fine when driving.

Re: Which GPS to Run?
I think ...I was told ...you guys corect me if I am wrong.
The Lowrance will integrate with there radios and transmit you location onto your buddies GPS when you talk to the on the radio. If they have the Lowrance system also. You can also get a Lowrance GPS with a built in FM radio ... that is kind of cool if so

It's on an adjustable Ram mount and moves out of the way. My 51 year old eyes love the screen size.LOL

Re: Which GPS to Run?
Lowrance Baja series GPS about the best there is. Pricey but not killer for what it is. Garmin has a couple of portables that are nice. The Rhino by Garmin has a two-way feature that can also locate your buddies if you can't talk to them. It really comes down to budget.

Did you have to download any maps to use it on the trail? Or does it work right out of the box. I will mainly use it for the local trails around the Hatfield McCoy trails and just want to save my tracks and waypoints for later use. Thanks ahead! I was also looking into the Magellan Crossover 2500T.
