What are best-brightest tail LED bulbs?

Going to install tail LED lights. I have the relay and wiring diagram thanks to other members and would like to know which bulbs to get and where to get them. LED technology changes so fast it is hard to keep up. Thanks.

Re: What are best-brightest tail LED bulbs?

I got the tower 2 from here: 3157 Tail Light Brake Light Turn Signal LED Bulbs

They were recommended in another thread. Seem pretty bright to me.
Get red. The white will wash out the plastic and make it look pink.

Re: What are best-brightest tail LED bulbs?

I don't have the answer to your question, but would like to share something I learned when trying to put LED tail bulbs in my truck. Keep in mind incandescent bulbs emit light in all directions, while LEDs are very directional. The apparent size of a tail light is due to the internal reflector and lens design, bouncing the light around inside the lamp. So, to replicate this with an LED bulb, you'll want one with multiple LEDs, mounted all around the bulb. Otherwise, if you get one with all the LEDs mounted facing the rear, your tail light will just look like a laser spot--very bright, but tiny.

Just want to bump this to see what everyone thinks now about the "best and brightest" LEDs. I'm wiring the relay and harness this weekend.

I got some bright ones off eBay for $13 shipped from china. Just search 3157 red smd led. the one I got has 68 smd led's and are bright as hell.

Keep us posted on the longevity of these. Trying to find a "quality" LED replacement is tough--they all look alike, and they all seem to come from HK/China (the same factory?).

Yeah thats why I don't pay the big money for the LED's. They are all made in the same place and most even look the same. I have been running the same set in my truck for 2 months now with no problems. I have them as my DRL's and my blinkers.

These are the ones in my truck and the ones comming for the RZR are identical except the red instead of amber. I took these pics while it was still pretty light outside. If you look at the bottom pic you can see the DRL's to the left even though they are not on.

Re: What are best-brightest tail LED bulbs?

Ones I have considered buying a few times that are pretty pricey are ones from superbrightleds.com

They have some on there that are a 3 watt led and they say they are brighter that normal filliment bulbs.

Mods please remove if not allowed.

Found here http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...F315x-xLX3.htm.

Found here 3 Watt Luxeon 3156/3157 bulbSpecifications.
This is why I asked about longevity--I liked SBLED's two-year warranty, but only if these things actually fail. I wonder what effect bouncing around in a Rzr will have on the circuitry.

Re: What are best-brightest tail LED bulbs?

Well finally got my lightbulbs from China yesterday. They are pretty bright for LED's. The only time that you can tell the stock filament bulbs are brighter is when you hit the brakes they have a little more glow to them, but not much difference. I am very pleased with them. For $12 they will be hard to beat.

They look awsome straight on from the back. Like there is a million little LED's in there.
