I figured I would give a Deka Gel Battery a try as there made in the US (PA).. Was told by Deka that there battery is just as good as the Odyssey but your paying for the warranty with the Odyssey. Well BS. My Deka lasted 10 months and is SHOT. Will not hold a charge for more than 3 days. I don't have any huge lights that would over work the battery.. I should have just bought the Odyssey from the start.. I called Deka today and they said they only offer a 3 month replacement and the rest is pro rated. Basically its cheaper to buy a new battery. SO GO WITH THE ODYSSEY

Interesting information. I read a handful of reviews on the battery and they generally were very positive (why I went with their brand over Odyssey--I only run a winch and HID headlights).

Perhaps you need to recondition it due to sulfation?

As an aside, I keep mine connected to a C-TEK trickle charger/conditioner when I'm not riding to prevent sulfation, etc.

You really can't compare the 2 as they are 2 differnt types of batties. I always use braille batterys. They are pretty much the stongest you can buy. If you want the largest CCA and reserve power get the braille. I always thought Odyssey batteris sucks because we they drain to quickly and do not short cycle well at all. You could always go L-ION They are around $999 but last for ever. I've used them to crank 155 CI monter V-twins with out a problem.

Deka's customer service did not say anything about reconditioning it? They said sound like you need a new one!! Well I SAY BS!! ANY battery on the market should last more than 10 months. I only put 400 on that battery!! I talk with an Odyssey dealer this morning and he said as long as I have my original sales receipt there battery has a 2 year no questions asked 100% replacement warranty. PRO RATE THIS

What do you mean?? There both Gel batteries, please explain????

Opps, Didn't see the gel part of your post. You would be surprised. I've sold atlesat 10 of them but these ofcourse are going in a custom choppers. Take a look at this link. These are the batterys used in alot of NHRA Drag cars. Light Weight High amps

My dad was a Deka dealer for 25 years. East Penn Mfg Co. We sold hundreds, and yes there were some failures. But overall, they were a very good product. And yes, pro-rating batteries and tires sucks! You are better off buying new and starting off with a fresh warranty. Sorry you had bad luck.y OEM RZR battery lasted 2 months! The replacement is fine, however.

WickedOne can you talk more about the Braille battery? They look very interesting. What do you know about their AGMs?

I installed my East Penn battery (Deka, Extreme MagnaPower, etc.) in March 2008 and have had no complaints. I just bought one for the wifes Rzr to replace the stock one that finally went TU. Sounds like you either got a defective one or there's a problem with your charging system--which will kill your Odyssey pretty quick, too.

Charging system was check about 2 weeks ago at the dealer and its fine.

Well my first Odyssey 925 lasted 6 months in my RZR with very little load. Just a 15 watt radio and 35 watt HiD replacement headlights.. I do have a winch but every time its used I rev the motor. I will say this though.. All I had to do is take the 6 gray caps off the top and mail it in with a 15 dollar payment.. Got a brand new battery shipped to my door. So at least their warranty is solid.. If this one doesn't last though I will not be happy. Can't really fault a product cause of a failure.. As long as its not a common problem.. 3 month warranty is pretty crappy though.. That would worry me..
