Grounding!

Just thought I would make a quick post about something that is often overlooked. A Good Ground Point!

I've attempted to help people over the phone many times diagnose electrical problems mainly starting issues. Every time I mention to check their ground and they grab the "Black Wire" and see if it's loose and then quickly move on to what they really think is wrong when they just missed the real issue.

Even straight from the factory they miss the boat. Surface area really makes a difference over just those few exposed metal threads are providing. This won't give you 20% HP increase, but it can recover lost electrical power. Things loosen up and corrode over time especially in our environment.

I have a special little tool called a Piloted Bonding Brush that runs about $15 and really gets used more than you think. You don't have to use one, but it makes it a 10 second job and is neat.

Here is what you get.
This first image is the main ground point near the battery.

Here is the result from the Bonding Brush.

Here are a couple other examples...One being the HID setup...This is an even more important place to have a proper ground.

Anyway I thought I would share. You can get these from most electrical supply houses or Google "Piloted Bonding Brush" and find some Online sales.

Re: Grounding!

Johnnycat picked up on something I forgot to mention and that was the point about the Fuel Injection system.

I also replaced the engine ground and the starter power wire with newer heavier gauge wire and better terminals. It's a fairly cheap modification that is also easy to do. I'll post those pics later.
