i got the battery trey from sidexsidesports. then i got an exide o6 battery (basically the same as an optima. do not let anyone in fooling you that the battery trey drops right in. mine was a pain had to move wiring harness and cut out factory box. the exide is taller than an optima so the bar that holds the battery in place doesn't fit perfect i used several zip ties and fashioned me a bolt. it has worked great. i am running 5 piaa lights, winch, 200w amp speakers and ipod. i will soon add a cigarette lighter seeing as it is hard as hell to light one running 30+ mph in the woods...haha

You got a totally different battery than was being discussed. The Odyssey is also completely different than the Optima and Orbital(Exide). The Orbital has a larger outer casing and will not drop right in place. The Optima won't either without cutting out the plastic OEM case in the Gen2 and using one of the aftermarket metal brackets.

The Odyssey 925 is about 40% smaller than either the Optima or Orbital and literally drops right into the Gen2 battery tray. You only have to do minor trimming of plastic on the backside to make the terminals easier to access.

I prefer the Odyssey batteries over the Optima and Orbital for the size and the warranty(3year replacment) and just overall quality.

yep. optima is like a full size car battery. Either red, blue or yellow.
Odessy is 2/3 the size and more power cranking power then an optima, but maybe less reserve time due to size.

My customer had an Interstate Batt rep (optima) come into his shop to get him to swap battery lines. They tested the optima and it put out around 850 amps. The Odessy pc925 put out 1127. The rep was shocked, took his battery and went home. Both are good, we've used both. It's like Ford or Chevy. All preference

I did it in a gen 2, i don't think that changed between the gen's. Post a pic of your battery tray and i'll tell you for sure. It has WAY more reserve then stock. It has more cranking power then your diesel truck battery so when it is running low, it'll still get ya going.

ok here are specs for the orbital, odyssey and Optima batteries you all are using. some manufacturers listed more info than others. keep in mind the odyssey 925 is half the size of both the optima and orbital batteries and half the weight. I am also including an odyssey model at the bottom that is the same size as the optima and orbital just to put things into propper perspective..I am probably biased as I use odysseys in everything and have had 100% perfect luck with every one I have purchased. I dont know how many of you want to haul around a full sized car battery under your seat in a utv ( LOL) but thats what both the optima and orbital are.

I just called Battries Battries, AKA Battries Plus, the Odyssey 925 runs about $180.00. Just FYI. I will be replacing mine in the next few weeks.

#19 ·
Make sure and get the 925L as it puts the positive and negative terminals on the same sides as polaris has it stock. I'll be ordering mine once I recover from buying the gps, power cable for it, amp, speakers, ipod, otterbox, ram mount for the ipod, and the amp cables!

Not for me. It helped hugely but just once my warning light did return. Riding at night with both stock & a pr. of 55W running lights on. Going somewhat slow but in HIGH gear. If I had been in Low, or going faster, I'm sure it wouldn't have happened.

firerzr did you get an answer to... does the odessy 925 fix the problem of low battery indicator with headlights and stereo on?

read somewhere that someone used another type of battery that compares to the 925, the etx30L, it is almost half the price of 925
maybe a battery guru can comment?
I copied this from a Mazda racing forum

"I thought I would share some experience with you all. As most of you know I rep a line of batteries from the EAST PENN company and have touted how great our AGM batteries are. Well.....I recently had a jobber that was stocking the Odyssey battery line "because they are so powerful". I argued with him that our were just as good and even did a little test to prove it. I carry with me a OTC 3167 battery tester that shows CCA's at the end of a battery test and tested both our ETX30L and his PC925. The results were 558 CCA's for our ETX30L and 502 CCA's for his "bad ass PC925". He was humbled......I was estaticnd qouted this"

I have that battery. Same type and rating as the Odyssey but costs about $80 and is made in USA. I'm very happy with it and used the money I saved to buy a set of HID lights. With the money I saved by buying a Ranger battery box instead of the RPM box I bought a nice Grant steering wheel.

before you go replacing all these batteries you might want to check the output of your alternator i have heard some cases of the alternator putting out way below what it is rated at. I also know they make a higher output alternator for the RZR that might be cheaper then replacing the battery when you have a perfectly good RZR stock battery just something to think about

#27 ·
Anyone know about the high output alternator, or the box relocation in the 09 as an alternative to battery replacement for low charge indication.

Hello, Ive been watching this forum for a while now and have made only madeone post in the past. That know one resonded to. I purchased an Oyssey 925L battery today. The cost was $158.45 including shipping from tnrbatteries.com. I have a RZRS on order and will add a whinch, lights, and stereo after I receive it. I've learned much information from this forum. Thank you for all the info. Hopfully this helps.

The ETX30L SEALED AGM BATTERY:
EXTREME MAGNA POWER POWERSPORTS BATTERY WITH AGM (ABSORBED GLASS MAT) CONSTRUCTION. READY TO INSTALL. WON'T SPILL OR LEAK. IDEAL FOR ANGLED INSTALLATIONS. ADVANCED VIBRATION RESISTANT DESIGN. NON-SPILLABLE BATTERY. FACTORY ACTIVATED. SIZE - 6-1/2" WIDE X 7" TALL X 5" DEEP. MADE IN USA WITH 365 CCA OF POWER.

The Odyssey - Battery PC925, with Terminals & without metal jacket, 925 cranking amps, 53 minute reserve capacity with 25amp load, (7.05'W x 6.64'L x 5.04'H), 26lbs

The Polaris (YUASA) YTX20HL-BS:
12 volt, 18 Ah SLA Battery for motorcycles, snowmobiles, and jet skis.
Dimensions:Length:6.88", Width:3.44", Height (including terminals):5.96", B1 terminals, 230CCA, Weight 15 lbs

The Odyssey has more CCA's but the ETX still has more than the Polaris.

The Odyssey 925 has 380 CCA's which is a little stronger than the
Exreme. The advantage that the 925 has is it's deep cycle ability, which
the Extreme does not have as it is a starting battery. The Odyssey 925
is both a starting and a deep cycle combined, that's one of the reasons
it's so freaking expensive, but it's also an exceptionally high quality
product. True, it only has about half the reserve time of an Optima,
but it's also only about half the weight. I cant imagine adding almost fifty
pounds of unsprung weight under my seat, no thanks, but then again I
don't have all of the gadgets that some guys have added on that need
power.
