Has anyone used these yet? i jnstalled them and they light up, but not when the brakes are applied. any thoughts?

Havent done mine yet, but if I remember correctly they are ground triggered which means you need a relay.

some are using relays and some are using resistors. i did mine with a relay, and i really like em.

sounds like a HOW TO is in order.

Marty do you find the 50 lumens the LEDs put out (on HI) is adequate? The stock bulb is 400 lumens. When I installed them I was totally disappointed.

i'm not really sure.. mike sent me some mondo led bulbs i dont know how many lumens, but they look like regular bulbs until you hit the brake or turn them off and they have that instant led thing going.
there was an orage rzr with bulby melted taillights because of probably a ground fault. that's why i did them.

can you explain on how you wire up with the realy? thanks.

relay would seem better. also how bright will they be?

Did he send you the same Autozone bulbs he wrote about or something different? I'd like to try something that works better but don't want to keep throwing money at it.

one of the guys from prc wrote up a nice article on doing it with resistors, i put it in the troubleshooting wiki on extremerzr.com its under body:lighting:taillights:
he did a nice job of writing it up.

the leds mike sent are brighter than the ones from autozone, but i dont know where he got them. pm myers on prc and ask him

hey everyone,

I tried this led mod using everything the same even the 3157 r led bulb but running lights work but i hit the brake lights and they stay the same. what else to try anyone have any idea.

there is a write up -you have to cut the wire and solder in a resistor. I have the exact same LEDs and they work perfect with the modification.
You have to make sure you cut the right lead, and put the proper resistor on there. I'm an electrical moron and if I can do it ANYONE can!!!


Search the forum for LED's youll find the how to - also, try pulling the bulb out and twist it 180 degrees and insert it that way.

i did it every step and when i hit the brake pedal no change in brightness. pin two the only differents is i usen a 390 instead of a 470 or some people used a 330. mine is a 2009 rzr-s does that make a difference? also could i have heated the resistor to much?
