What is this plug for???

Is this a plug for a radio? I'm assuming it is, based on the fact there's a ground, power, and usually blue is a "signal" wire for the head unit to know it's got power...

I'm looking at installing my OWN system, instead of paying the ridiculous premium that Polaris wants...

Is there anything that is pre-wired for a stereo? Or do you pretty much just have to run stuff from scratch?

The only bone they throw you is the little orange wire over by the lighter. It's an accessory power lead, switched through the ignition.

What he said. ^^^^^
If you're going to add an amp, GPS, Satellite Radio etc. you should run a seperate power source anyway. It's probably best to keep your toys (accessories) off the main harness and on it's own circuit.

Re: What is this plug for???

Dont splice to the winch cables ether, it kills the stereo due to low voltage when you use your winch. i ran 4 gauge for mine main lines.

How do you run a seperate source? I need to hook up a set of PIAA lights on my Brush guard and I can't use the orange accessory wire, because my winch is already plugged into it. Any help..

Re: What is this plug for???

Trying to install my PIAA Lights, but I only want them on when the key is on. I'm already using the orange accessory wire they give you, because my winch is already plugged into it. Is there another wire that I can splice into that will only work when the key is on. Thanks..

Not sure if this is exactly the answer you are looking for. But I believe the 12vlt accessory plug (cigarette lighter) is also keyed to the ignition. take a female and male blade connector and wire as shown in this picture (a bit hard to describe in words)

:

Where the yellow wire (fused in my picture) would then provide power to your switch. This setup still allows you to use your accessory plug, though you'll have to watch the total amps you're drawing.
