Tire Sealant - "Slime" Good or Bad?

Came home this evening was going out for a quick RZR ride, flat front tire, seems it has a small puncture leak.

Have you used "Slime"?

Or another brand?

Recommend - Yes / No?

Pro's and Con's?

It's great for emergency repair. It will gum up your rim, and can throw the tire out of balance.

I'd use it if I had no choice. I carry a spare and have a repair kit if I go through that as well.

Have also seen in this months Side X Side Mag, "Tire Balls"? I could see where these type of product would be very useful for endurance type races.

Your Thoughts?

Looking for the best possible solution to keep on the RZR in the event of a flat far away from tools, jacks, etc...

I have used that slime stuff on tires from MTN bikes to dirt bikes, to my sand car paddles.. it works great. never expirenced any out of balance or anything. it works pretty good for smaller leaks like thorns etc.. but if the tire is ripped, i don't think it will do much.

Greg is right excelent for small leaks. Not tears. I talked with their number one guy at OffRoad Impact last year as his booth was around the corner from ours. he had golf cart tire set up with air on an axle. he also had an ice pick. i stabbed it about 40 times (no bullshit) and after rotating about 10 times all the holes were sealed. I'm sold. Also it is the official tire sealer of SCORE racing

Serious desert racers trust nothing but tire balls, in my opinion.

As far as slime or any of the others go; they'll surprise you in how big a hole or gash that they'll actually plug. The trick is to get all your crap ready to go again before application; fill the tire with more than the recommended amount; air it up fast...and go. Keep up a good speed, don't stop; the stuff will squirt out everywhere (if you smell like you're overheating; it's the slime hitting the exhaust)...but it'll get you a long ways home almost every time.

slime is great. tire repair kit is good also, cheap & effective. fix a flat will corrode wheels from inside out. I have a tire kit @ home, fix a in the trailer.

Re: Tire Sealant - "Slime" Good or Bad?

I been racing with tubes in my quad for 7 years, just the little extra could save ya. I've torn tires on rocks and trees and yet the tube held up to finish. Tire balls is the way to go but $$$$.$$ Anyone else run tubes ?

You can't change air pressure for your different riding styles or locations and they charge like 160 per wheel...I'll pass.

I don't like slime because it really is slime.
Quad Boss sealant will actually wash off with water.

Berrymans brand tire sealant works well and does'nt eat away at the aluminum wheels like Slime and other brands,
