Review of Wolf Snout

I rode last weekend on very dusty country (dirt) roads with some friends. All of the adults were wearing our new Wolf Snout masks and our kids were making fun of us of course. We have the ones for no helmet or open face helmets and of course we do look funny when wearing them.

I have to say that they are the best addition I have made for riding in dusty conditions. My father suffers from black lung and couldn't ride in dusty conditions before we got the masks. After 57 miles of intense dust and mud logging roads, nothing but clean air made it through the mask. Six of us had the masks on and each of us did the post ride snoot blow expecting to get at least some dirt out, but there was none. The "kids" (they are in their 20's) blew and hacked up half of the trail.

The masks are very comfortable and allow you to freely talk or chew gum, even drink, but it has to be through a staw or hydration tube. My wife is an avid gum chewer and her only complaint was when she start chewing fast it would tickle her nose. She chews fast when I am about to do something that she feels is unsafe, so about all the time!!

When I washed them out it was amazing how much grime they released and had kept off our face and out of our lungs and mouth.

I am in no way affiliated with Wolf Snout or any vendor. This is just the opinion of a fellow rider on a new product that I purchased for me and my friends.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

How are they for heat and restricting air flow? I've tried a couple different masks in the past and never liked breathing so much hot, recycled air. It might just be a matter of getting used to it...blowing out trail dust for a couple days isn't much fun and can't be healthy.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

Been using Wolf Snout for a couple years now. They don't seem to get hot and good air comes through fine.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

If you breath through your nose it has a very slight restriction, but after a few minutes you don't notice it. Breathing through your mouth is absolutely unrestricted. Either way you are not getting recycled air. It is always fresh. If you have your windshield up it is almost like not having one on at all when you are moving. When we would stop for a break we never even thought to remove them unless we were getting something to eat. I am really impressed with them. Could they be tweeked a bit, probably, but I think overall they are really a good design.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

Thanks so much for the great review..They were designed thru function not fashion. Any kind of flashy covers would take from the free breathing feeling that the Wolfsnout is known for.
Any tweaking suggestions are always welcome, we are always looking for ways to make it better.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

Thanks all. I'm sure they will work great over the batman mask too. Just make sure to put the strap high on the crown of your head...

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

I'm glad to see they revised their design, I had used last years version and it seemed my goggles kept pushing down, or they caused an air gap between the nose and goggles. I,m still using the trusty bandanna, but that may change now the @#%$@ helmet law here in Nanny state of California is making us wear helmets after Jan.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

If you put the strap high on the crown of your head a helmet can easily be slipped over.
Also instal the same way and then place your goggles on and your dust mask should not interfere with your goggles at all. I would say try the new ones if they do not work out you can send them back for a refund.
Maybe some different goggles could solve the problem if so it would be well worth it.

Re: Review of Wolf Snout

these are VERY effective products. I, along with a couple of my friends, have been using these for the past couple of years and we all happy with them.

Another benefit is this...in warm weather you don't notice them making you hot, but in cold weather, it does a great job of keeping your mouth and nose warm.

It's nice when a product does EXACTLY as the company professes it will do.

Use mine all the time. None of my friends have them and they always laugh and say it looks like a S&M ballgag. But I can breath way better.
