Who has the best insurance, ok so after 5 years of riding a predator, i bought a 2013 RZR S LE, the dealer mentioned nothing about insurance and i requested a quote from my agent (Travelers) on that friday, well never having even thought about insurance for the quad i was only worried about theft, i never dreamed you could get crash insurance on a ATV. so i was not to worried until the next day when i brushed a tree with the right front tire and bent the frame, yes with no insurance. Then my agent informed me Travelers does not write atv insurance. So most guys said State Farm, but they will not write it because i will not swap all my stuff from Travelers who has been good to us with a couple of totaled cars and a roof on the house after a storm. I got a quote from Progressive of around 600 bucks, Allstate is about 400, i have not called Geico yet but i thought i was throw this up and see who has what, knowing that i will not move my homeowners and cars to the new company. I have to pay to fix this so called FRAME and then buy some insurance from somebody. So weigh in if you have time. thanks, james

I have full coverage on mine through Farm Bureau they added to my house policy as UTV farm equipment costs me $58 a year.....Point is check with the company that insures your home.

Recheck with agent... Mine said this was fine IF it never left the property. Once it leaves my farm, it had to be insured different. Same applies to trailers, tractor, ATV.

I have had great luck with Nationwide as they will write a motorcycle coverage separate without insuring vehicles. In fact they have told me they really are not interested in vehicles. I go through their Des Moines main office.

I have had Nationwide for 9 years now, first insuring a 2006 Rhino up until I purchased a 2011 RZR 800 LE EPS Trail. The Rhino cost me $90 year. Got rid of it when I got the 800. It now costs me $111 year for 100/300 liability, under & uninsured, 250 comp, 500 collision. And it includes 3k added accessories. One can always go for more insurance for mods but as I understand, it's kinda like jewelry insurance.

For giggles, the number I deal with at Nationwide Sales Solutions Inc. is 1-800-421-1444. I do not deal with local agents and therefore do not pay for the local's markup. Des Moines sez I can do this, and yes, they agree with me on the markup charged.

I mainly ride in Montana mountains and never had a claim. Maybe the proof is in the pudding. Hopefully I never find out.

I have Progressive.About $200 per year. They just shelled out about $4200 for broken tranny case, lower crankcase and tranny to rear end housing. They paid $500 for a new skid plate just because it had a scratch in it. I did not even include that in the claim. Agent said to use that for the deductable if I didn't want to replace it. I had just paid my premium for the year, so won't be sure if rates will go up until next year.

What did you do to cause the damage? Were you in an accident, did you hit something?

Arkyrider, I wonder why progressive quoted me $450ish a year and you pay $200? You obviously have full coverage since they paid a claim. Wonder if your coverage is lower? multiple vehicle discount? Age? Driving record? I know different zip codes cost more than others. I have yet to call geico but they seem to pop up a lot on this thread too.

Progressive, I have three machines. A 2013 Can-am Outlander max800 xt a 2004 yamaha Blaster and my 2014 XP1k. I pay $360 a year, that full coverage 250/500, 10k medical and a 500 deductible for claims but they have disappearing deductible so I am at 0 for the next one. Also $3k of accessory coverage on the outlander and$4k on the Rzr.

That is very true, also some insurances will not cover it if you are at a State park or at a ATV park so always check!

I have had progressive for all my toys and they are great! They are not always the cheapest but they have always taken care of me when I had to make a claim.

Geico after 20 minutes on hold and 3 transfers came in at $887 for 100/300 with comp and collision since I am going to make it street legal. $721 without comp collision. I am 49 with no accidents,no claims and one ticket. Is it my zip code thats making ins high? I do not insure anything else with these companies so no multi discount but they wanted almost the same to insure my 05 harley with my rzr.

I called the nationwide number that Randy516 provided and got a person quick but when they wanted my ssn right away I passed. I will let them run it IF i buy but don't want 10 companies to run my credit. I know the score but they won't quote on that. So Nationwide was out.

Next.

Sorry to hear Nationwide is asking for a ssn. They never did with me but I have been with them for a number of years.

Interesting about needing the insurance to say AZ. I winter in AZ from MT, my home state. My vehicle insurance (State Farm) is good no matter where I go or stay (except Mexico). So I called Nationwide to ask if there was a problem with me using the RZR in AZ when my base state is MT. They said it doesn't matter where I am, I am fully covered. My State Farm agent sez the same thing for my vehicles and other toys being insured.

i have fire and theft through farm bureau for my '16 rzr 900s which is ~$250 a year.

Just this week I inquired about liability and collision, to which my agent responded, "liability is not a problem but for collision i should to go through progressive"

My agent straight up told me progressive is the best choice available to me (in NC) for my collision policy.

To my knowledge I am not able to get foremost insurance, so i am going with my agents suggestion of Progressive. I can let y'all know how much the extra policies are when i get the Premium.

You mentioned collision ...
When I did an online quote from Geico , it was dirt cheap till I realized they had "I decline" in both Comp and Col along with low medical etc. when I added those in , it red flagged and read I couldn't have both collision and uninsured/underinsured ??? So I need to call and talk with a live person and ask why ??

I don't get why they vary so much for the same coverage.

I currently have Progressive through USAA on my 2011 800, $267/yr.
I'm pricing out the same coverage for the XP1K I'm getting in a few weeks.

No accidents, recent claims, decent credit score, soon to be 43, no atv class but been riding since I was 13 (some ask for # of years experience riding)

15/30/5
uninsured stacked 15/30
$1k medical
$250 comp/collision deductibles
$3k accessory coverage.

So far;
Progressive's new quote would be $514/yr
Nationwide said $781/yr!!
Merkel $570/yr
Riders was over $600/yr if I remember
I'm waiting for another quote from a girl in a SxS group on Facebook. It was $420/yr but the coverage wasn't matched through Farmers.

I think it has a lot to do with where you live because I am the same age as you and I have had Progressive for like over 20 years with no accidents. I live in Wisconsin I am paying $194 a year for my XP1K and that is with 250/500 and 4000 in accessory coverage. I do have a $1000 deductible but my policy has disappearing deductible so I am at zero for the first one. I have three machines on my policy as well but my total bill is only $416 a year. Has to be your location not you.

I added mine to my auto policy (through Erie.) Not something insurance companies like to do, but I get better coverage than I would a separate UTV policy.

#64 ·
if you are looking for the best price
i think that will be based on your zip code and in some cases even your credit rating with other driving history
this is usally all factored in
i have proggresive insurance $300.00 a year included is $10,000.00 in accessories
mind you have have not had to put a claim in on the rzr
allstate is my main carrier for everything else
they could not get near that price,
i also have proggresive coverage for the motor home that was cheap too

The wife had an accident in my truck years ago. The other car had Erie. The way they handled it assured us we'd never, ever have Erie. She was rear ended and USAA called us to get all the accident info because Erie wouldn't work with USAA, took them well over 30 days to answer something USAA sent them.

I just modified a few quotes and got Progressive down to $355/yr w/same coverage as my previous post but with $1k deductibles. At $500 deducts it jumped to $480. Same coverage with Farmers was $354 ($1k deducts), I asked her to modify that to a $500 deduct and it only jumped to $418.

I'd like to keep progressive thru USAA but don't want that $1k deductible
