Storage Box

What do most riders use as a tool box storage that seals out mud and water?

I use the lock and ride box. It gets too hot to store food and beverages so I only keep tools and stuff in there.

Re: Storage Box

little tool box inside the lock n ride box keeps most elements at bay. I keep some soft things in there too like a towel and rain gear to help the heavier stuff stay in place. other stuff in there includes an air pump, first aid kit, spare belt, spare gloves, lid prop.

Not water proof. But I haven't had any issues with it unless I forgot and hit it with my pressure sprayer at the end of the day.

Re: Storage Box

I use an old Coleman cooler as a storage box. It is metal and i coated it with spray on bedliner for trucks. Used two u bolts and secured it to the roll bar. Looks good and is water and dust proof.

Is there a lock and ride thing that will hold a cooler/gas can and fit with the lock and ride box in the center??? It seems like everything I read says that it won't fit on the side with the lock and ride box mounted in the center.

Re: Storage Box

Rubbermaid Action Packer also. It did not seal out dust until I added self adherent weather stripping...now, no dust, no water. I drilled a hole in the center to pass a button head socket screw with fender washer to screw down into a "home-made" lock/ride anchor and sealed it with RTV. I then drilled 2 holes near the top on the back side (each side) to allow passage of of a "U" clamp which inserts over the horizontal bar on the stock cage and tightened with nylock nuts and RTV sealant. It stays put, is still water/dust resistant and I've got plenty of storage for about $35.

Re: Storage Box

++

Buy a role of weather striping, and run it along the lip on the lid, this will seal it up.

Re: Storage Box

Scott, the Polaris gas can holders fit on either side of the L&R box and will hold a gas can or a small cooler very well. I have one and I use it for both. You can put one on either side if you wanted to.
