Big Horn Truck Tires...

Well, I finally did it. I took off the stock wheels and tires and put on some new sweet wheels and tires. The wheels are Douglas Diablo (14X6 4-156 4+2B) all the way around. I got the wheels from Discount tire, a vendor on this blog. The tires I got from Les Schwab. They are Big Horn light truck tires from Maxxis. They are 27/850R-14/6. These tires added about 1" of ground clearance.

I went with 4+2 offset wheels so I could keep my machine at 50" Once it was all done, turns out I am now at 50.5". So I am now a half inch wider than I was.

I love the new rubber. The first thing I noticed was how smooth they are. Wow! Like riding on silk compared to the stock tires. I am presently running about 15 psi in the tires. I may drop that down to 10 psi. So far at 15 psi it is pretty smooth.

I also added two Tusk quick release flag holders, and two new flags. Now I am ready to cruise in style.

Here are some pictures of before and after....

Re: Big Horn Truck Tires...

Why! Well the answer is simple really. My RZR is street legal. I drive my RZR to and from work everyday. In fact I drive it all around town. Since the trails are all still closed for winter around here, I can still drive my RZR around and have fun.
Another plus is I won't have to buy tires again for at least 5 or 6 years. I have already gone through two sets of stock tires in just a year and a half.

Bet they are heavy suckers.

But hey, for street use only, should do.

I do know that by the time I got all the goodies for my toy, including a trailer to haul it, I could have bought a pretty nice pickup.

Re: Big Horn Truck Tires...

Do you happen to know how much those weigh per tire? I thought of doing that with All Terrain T/A's, but they are 30 lbs per tire.

2008 Polaris Red RZR, UMP intake, Donaldson filter, 46mm bored throttle body/manifold, ported & polished head, Trinity/Supertrapp exhaust, PCV, Wego-IV AFR, Dirty Dawg clutch, TMW Offroad Cage, LoneStar MTS +4 Mid-travel, Elka Stage 4 shocks, OMF & ITP wheels.

Re: Big Horn Truck Tires...

Each new tire and wheel combination weights about 3 lbs more than stock tire and wheel. So, YES they are heavier, but not by much. The wheels were $96 each from Discount Tire. Plus there was a $50 RZRForum discount from Discount Tire. The tires, from Les Schwab were $167 each. I wanted to get Super Swamper TSL Bias tires, but Super Swamper doesn't make the 14" tire anymore, and I could not find any tire store with them on hand. The Big Horns were my second choice. I am very pleased with them. (Note: 14" mud truck tires are very hard to find!)

Re: Big Horn Truck Tires...

I have been thinking of putting some swampers on mine too. I now have sedona rip=saws...and they are HEAVY. Like 4 -5 pounds heavier than the stock tires. I just don't know if the RZR is heavy enough to put enough wieght on the tires to make them stick in the rocks?

Trying to get a women to do something she doesn't want to, is like trying to baptis a cat.
