covers for door nets?
i was just think if anyone has ever thought to use some tarp material or something to use for covering the nets so that water doesnt splash through them. i seen a company in canada makes some, but i would like to try and make my own out of black tarp and staples maybe. just until i can afford to get some utv inc doors or pro armour doors. has anyone ever tryed this or done this. if so let me know what material you used and how u did it. thx.

Re: covers for door nets?
I have been considering going to a canvas place and seeing how much it would be for custom fabricated canvas doors. Doors are way over priced and heavy so I have been thinking of a cheap alternative. I like the nets but mud flicks thru and up me shorts which is a pain! Canvas is my only idea so far

Re: covers for door nets?
Hi Guys,
I have made myself a set of cheap door skins as I like to call them. I went to Harbor Freight and bought a cheap blue trap and a grommet kit. I cut the tarp about 1 1/2" larger on all sides then I needed. I folded the 1 1/2" over and glued the 1 1/2" down. After the glued dried I used the grommet kit to install grommets where I needed them. I put the door skins on the out side of the door nets using wire ties or zip ties to hold the skins to the nets. These cheap door skins do help to keep out some of the wind, mud or snow. I used a piece of cardboard as a template for the skins. I have less then $8 in my door skins. I hope this helps, |

Re: covers for door nets?
3/4" emt, about $3.50 a stick, made barrel hinges out of some 3/8" od steel tube and 1/4" rod. Skinning them with some hard plastic sheet I found at home depot for $22 for a 4'X8'. It's textured on one side. Jut trying to figure out my latches now.

Re: covers for door nets?
I will try to post some pictures this weekend. I have never posted pictures before. I hope there is a sticky out there on posting pictures.
I hope the idea of using a cheap tarp and some gomments could help someone out. I don't need to spend a bunch of money. I am looking for something that is functional and cheap. About the noise of the tarp, I could not really hear it. The trail riding that I do is not fast but more technical. If I were to do it over, I would make the tarp touch the floor to help keep out more water and mud. Working on the door skins is a nice way to have something cold to drink. ![]() Have fun with your project, |
