Any vendors or riders know diff tie rod options for my superatv 5 lift?

I broke a tie rod end on my 5th ride with this lift and of course we had to be hours from my truck. Limped it back to a road and had to drive truck to it. It broke because my superatv 5 lift z tie rod bent and put so much stress on the factory tie rod end it snapped. The actual tie rod didnt bend... it was the threaded stud end of tie rod. Thank god it didnt snap or I dont know how we would have gotten me back. Note I looked at the other tie rod and its bent too in same place.

I have contacted Superatv but of course it was the weekend so they are going to get back with me monday and I think they are gonna honor the parts. I will let ya know. I just ordered American Star chromoly tie rod ends. I think if I thread these new tie rod ends on completely and only adjust other end there will be less stress on these studs and it might not bend. And that may have been how I was supposed to have it set up but I had no tie rod instructions with my kit (as you see in my review of this lift) so I adjusted half at one end of tie rod and half at other.

Now for my question. Anyone put a different tie rod on there superatv lift? Vendors you got something that will work? I called CATVOS and that dude could have cared less to help me. I absolutely love this lift but IMO this whole tie rod setup is the weak point of it. No way to really seal the boots perfectly since they changed to a bolted steering box shaft bracket instead of the studded bracket is my first problem and now this.

I have a big ride planned in 6 days... HELP!

I just want to update everyone on my tie rod situation. Superatv honored my parts and shipped them right out to me. Thanks Kevin....

Now for the better news. The replacement superatv z tie rods were a totally different part. The actual o.d. of the tie rod is smaller on the replacement part but instead of what appeared to be a machined out stud for tie rod end to thread on old part... this new part has a actual stud threaded into it. I screwed on my American Star chromoly tie rod ends that I got on amazon for 60 bucks and I made a ride this weekend at sabine ATV park in burkeville Texas. Parts did great. Im gonna keep an eye on it but I think I might be good to go.

Thanks superatv for coming thru for me.

Also superatv gave me a set steering stops to install on my rzr. They seem to think it will help so of course I took em and installed to help my cv's but I know those old tie rods didn't bend from steering too far. They were just junk. Still happy with new ones tho so far!

Re: Any vendors or riders know diff tie rod options for my superatv 5 lift?

Short answer.... NO

Now they seem to be sealed pretty decent right now by total chance. When I squeeze them I dont hear air like before but Im not sure if when Im turning if they let air in.

Superatv never got back with me on that like I asked so let me give some more info for you and for them and maybe they will answer on this.

First remember from my install review thread that I did not have instructions in my kit for this section of the kit. I had to find some online for a different kit @ http://www.superatv.com/instructions...iles/lkp26.pdf

Take a look at that link on page 6 Fig 12 and 13.

In figure 13 you see the bracket on the right that screws into your existing steering column. This is the old bracket. This bracket has now changed from a bracket with a stud on the end to a bracket with a hole in it and they ship it with an allen head bolt. They said its because it was coming loose and this new bracket was to fix that. Well I have already tightened up the new design once. But I'm not complaining about that its just that this new bolt does is not long enough to still install it like fig 12.

In figure 12 they show you to use the jam nut on to their studded bracket. Well if you were to attempt to put a jam nut on this new bolt then you would only be able to thread 2 or 3 threads into your steering column and thats just not enough for me. So I think that this bolt needs to be longer so the boot can be tywrapped around it like the old brack or they should just go back to the old bracket. I went everywhere trying to find one a longer bolt and I was going to put jam nuts on each side of boot but no one local could even order me one cause its fine thread and then the allen head makes it pretty special.

So for guy asking what did I do?... On the passenger side on my first try I shoved the boot on the bolt and just bolted it up hoping that it would swell onto the bracket when I was tightening. Well it didnt swell onto bracket it sort of rolled out. And that was good enough to seal it off with a tywrap. On the drivers side it ripped it as I was just lucky on the other one. When I bought a new boot I took some scissors and cut about half of the small end of the boot off (where the tywrap normally goes) and I put a small amount of grease inside that part. I did the same things as before and just watched as a tightened the bolt and the boot stretched out over the superatv bracket end. Then I was able to put a tywrap on this new bracket. (for those of you looking at the bracket in the link above... remember the new bracket is different than that picture)

If I end up having problems with the passenger side I will do the same thing on it. (cut it and lube it and get it to stretch onto bracket) I am watching it every ride.

As far as how are my tie rods doings with my chromoly ends... I have made 2 rides now and they are doing great! Now I am not going 35 over bad roads like before since I am nervous but I am doing 20 so far. This new threaded stud hasnt bent. Still hoping Im good on that.

Superatv... this is still somewhat of a problem unless you have some different installation instructions now that is different from what I just mentioned above.

Re: Any vendors or riders know diff tie rod options for my superatv 5 lift?

this little boot was a PAIN IN MY ASS! i've got alot of hail marys to do tonight after all of the GDs that flew out of my mouth. finally, i wiped ALL of the lube out of the boot, and off of the socket and put it together dry. i also cut the boot down to where there was only enough room to get a tie wrap on it. i used a socket to shove through the boot (from the inside). then i lined up the boo to the bracket and pushed it on down. i actually got this tip from the install instructions. i modified it slightly by using a socket instead of just an extension end. once i cut the boot down it would stay in place. a thinner better weld on that bracket would help. mine looked like it was just globbed in there. other than that, everything with this kit was a breeze! especially since my bro-in-law was there with me who already has this kit. beats the hell out of instructions

I definately got alot of great info from your review. mudxxed also had some helpful input. he tipped me off on trimming down the boot some. i'll throw out a tip on the huge allen wrench that you will need. i found a bolt that had the same size head as the allen bolt and stuck it in backwords. then i cross threaded a nut onto it and used that to turn with a wrench. it made a great make shift allen wrench at 1:am!

Lol... I ran down to harbor freight and bought a set of socket allen heads for my ratchet wrench. Like 15 bucks.

We have a new design in the works, and the RZRForum will be the first place to hear about them when they are available.

Re: Any vendors or riders know diff tie rod options for my superatv 5 lift?

Quick question tyler. Should i use the stock end links or the satv supplied links? I used the stockers because they had a boot for protection.
