Yes I will be waiting to here how you like yours. I have a 07 Polaris dragon which I don't think I would ever give up, but I do run tracks on a 700 sportsman. We use it when the snow is real deep and we need to go where no one else will go. Its a real tank and seems to be unstoppable in the snow. The only negatives was the width and speed. Let me know how yours works. Any upgrades to clutching?
I'd love to add tracks as well. I live about 50 feet from an snowmobile trail and can ride for miles on a sled. My only question is whether there would be any hassle riding on the sled trails?
I saw one post that said you would have to register it as a snowmobile if you wanted to ride legally. Anyone know if that is true?
i would like to send pictures but i just cant get it to work can any body do it for me i have pictures of my rzr with tracks installed and cab ill e.mail them if you can put on this site thanks scott aka.weekend warrior
I am dying to hear how they really do in the deep stuff with tracks. I been debating getting them since the first day I bought the rzr. Please let us know how it does. I would love to know speed, clutching issues, and most importantly how does it do in the deep stuff.
I am not worried about the price if the performance is there. However if I pay that and then it has no power or can't go in the deep stuff I am going to be pissed. Also how hard are they to remove.
they only take about 25 minutes for all four tracks to take off it took about 2 hrs to put on brackets and adjust track settings i still need someone to e mail pictures to so they can post pictures for me
So what about clutching, speed and how deep of snow can they really handle. Someone on here must know. I just have a hard time trusting the sales guy whe tells me they can do everything. I want to hear from someone with experience on them.
I managed a Polaris dealer for 10 years. We used to sell the early sets of tracks and installed them on everything. We installed a set on a Ranger 4x4 500 and it was unstoppable. I mean when you went in fresh snow and jumped off you were waste deep in snow. Our customer used it for logging with a double sled trailer behind him stacked with wood. I currently still have a sportsman 700 with tracks and a 6x6 that we just put tracks on the very rear and front. They do go just about anywhere. My sled will not follow them when it gets narly twisty and deep(dragon 700). Sure if the sled has speed built up it will go in the deep, but not at slow speeds. My guess is that a RZR will be more sporty then the ranger and better to drive then the atv's. The only negative is they are wide with tracks and they really suck when you get hung up under a log.
weekend warriors rzr.it is sweet i have polaris prospector pro-s on order.should be here next week.more pics to come.kind a slow at it i just switched from a pc to a mac.
first ride with tracks and soft top top works great i drove 164 miles one way on the trailer to my weekend house in the mountains no problem with top in the wind i drove 70 mph. i just had to put a ratchet strap on both doors to stay shut tracks its my first ride with them i had my garman gps with me to check speed and compare against speedometer with tracks it tops out 67 mph.on speedometer real speed was 34.9 mph against rev limiter this was at about 2400 feet above sea level it was a blast to drive there was about 2 to about 6 inches of snow i dont think it would be easy to get it stuck. my heater worked better than i thought it was 14 degrees out and once the inside heated up i took off my gloves and hat and was sweating i ran into 2 fish and game cops they were looking very cold i stopped and unzipped the window and said cold enough for you .they wanted one bad .going on the highway on the trailer almost everyone looked at my machine even old ladys i find that little kids to 70 year old men check it out .its kind of cool having a toy that everyone wants THINK SNOW !!!
new hampshire snowmobile law reads to be classified as a snowmobile it must be under 1250 lbs and 52 inches wide max and be belt /cleat or track driven and or have skis
nearly 35mph isn't bad, I didn't figure it would run that fast. What was your typical cruising speed? I fear I would get tired of going so slow especially if sleds are passing me doing 70.
I emailed the PA DCNR to find out if I can run on the State sled trails. Did you register yours as a snowmobile?
25 mph average speed it feels like alot more than 25 just like going 60 on a rzr feels like 100 mph :hihi: the n.h. registration is the same as sled off highway recreational vechicle . ohrv .
A snowmobile is defined as follows:
An engine-driven vehicle which is designed to travel over snow or ice; has an endless belt track or tracks; is steered by a ski or skis; and has an overall width of 48 inches or less.
I guess they could get technical and say the width is too much and there aren't any skis.
Let us know as soon as you take it through some deep stuff or up a steep incline. I really want to know how it will pull up a deep incline in the deep stuff. I think it will do great but would love to hear or see it before I spend all the cash myself.
