Hey, any input on the knock off rides? I have owned 4 polaris products. Walked on pins and needles on every one because I kept having trouble. The last was a 2011 Ranger Crew LE. Trouble. So save the get what you pay for stuff. Only the 2010 Rzr crew was reliable and it was still in the shop a lot. I am old and easy on my machines. So, I am getting my kids a chines 150cc. Wondering if they are decent. Also thinking about a 1000 cc workhors for around the house I can build into a deer lease horse. 1000CC 4X4 UTV products, buy 1000CC 4X4 UTV products from alibaba.com

Any thoughts? If it breaks, I fix. Put some HD axles, shocks, some bigger tires, maybe upgrade the exhaust, and make clutch kit, what ever I can mod it with and it will be a mean rig for a lot less than 15k of a RZR crew.

If you change out the motor, diffs ,trans, fuel pump, drive belt, exhaust, fuel injection, clutch, frame, wiring, shocks, axles, brakes, tires, ecu, seals, body hardware, battery, tierods, skidplates, clamps and all rubber clamps it should be a great buy............How can you go wrong ??

If you think your Polaris is junk just wait til you run a knock off. My buddy bought a knock off Chinese quad and the exhaust fell off on the way home in the box of the truck, like the pipe actually broke by the head and the whole deal fell off. That was just a start to the mANY issues. Machine was toast within hours of owning it. Complete joke.

Some guy on this site bought the chinese 150cc for his kids. He seems to like it. I am not saying its not junk. Not saying its even an option. But I tell you Polaris has been kicking me in the balls left and right. Went to a customer appreciaiton ride with the dealer I bought my last one with and it was a constant sales pitch. Service agreements, etc.

Yeah, I guess popo needs no upgrades for almost 3 times the price. Come right out of the box with great tires, clutching, axles, etc. 6mo warranty and a fight to get crap covered. I mean, 16k. Then it still needs $1000's of upgrades. Not to mention CVT noises or Warranty fights and feeling viol;ated everytime I go to the dealer. 50k in rigs that all had issues. I like Popo as much as anyone, but prices are getting out of hand.

Well thats your own fault for buying more and more junk, no one forced you to buy a Polaris. My question is how smart does someone have to be to keep buying the same thing over and over, continuously getting burnt the whole time, and not switch brands? Give your head a shake man.

sounds like you have your mind made up.do it! and be proud of the junk you are about to buy. i sold those knock offs in the quad version and regret ever selling one to my customers(to those i apologize and bought most of them back).and that is what you will get total effin JUNK.good luck. my question is (with extreme curiosity by your typing) where are you from and why do you think these knock offs will be better.and i will say one more time JUUUUUUUNK!!!!!

Never said they would be better. Texas. Just posed a question. Sold my crew after 6hrs of riding at my deer lease in Stephenville and having back pain for a week due to sitting in a bus driver position riding in rocky terrain. Was going to go back to a Rzr4 for comfort, but then got a 17500 quote for a stock machine with an extended warranty and stepped back and asked why. Can't I find an alternative that will work hard, play hard, and me not flush 5-7k over the next two years in depreciation when I decide to upgrade to the XP-4because I am a sucker.

I talked to a guy that had one of the wolverine knock offs and had no problems with it. He had it for over a year and had over 500 miles on it. We took it for a ride. It rode decent, as good as a stock narrow razor. It had tons of power, woudl walk away from our rzr. Actually had a hard time keeping the rear tires from spinning all the time on gravel. According to its speedo it would do 70 with some throttle left.

Another friend bought a cheap chinese one and it truly is a piece of crap. Rides like the suspension is welded solid. Parts fall offf of it constantly. Its only a 500 but it has no power.

I guess you have to do your research and find the rare decent one.

ok, i would agree with the seat thing, but come on. when you looked at it on the floor ,did you really see a bmw comfort zone.that seat is in your face uncomfortable looking. how could you not see that.[/QUOTE]

I guess I was blinded by the cool paint job. It was not that bad until I was hitting bumps ever two feet. I ate the 4k loss and learned. No need to keep on with the obvious errors in my judgement. If the RZR4 was faster and more nimble, I would be fine with it. Maybe an XP 4 but, Ive had a 4 before and loved the ride, wanted more fun factor. That is why I am hesitant to get on another. Oh well, thanks for the input.

We started with a Hammerhead Twister 150, then a Carter Brothers GTR 250. Both were ok but needed more attention to maintenance, Suspension was just normal. The Carter Brothers 250 climbed just about anything with to adults in it. They come more complete with harnesses already installed through the seat backs, parking break, turn signals, high low beam lights. 46 to 56 mph depending on sprockets. MDW and MDD loved those things. Way more than the RZR. Lower to the ground they felt safer. Carter Brothers are made in the USA but are hard to find. They also have SXS 300cc.

The buggies have their own forum as well. Lots of info from lots of people who own them.

Honestly. My rzr is 7 months old. I have radiator leaks but nothing else. If/when i wear it out. I am yanking the engine and putting a old harley 1200 thumper in it. I waslooking at mine over the weekend and it wudnt take a whole lot to build aal small rail. 4wd wud be tricky but to come up with just a simple barrien style small buggy wud be easy.

Jeez all you guys bitching about chinese junk...give a thought to what you're using to tell us. Your PC...your cellphone...your tablet...your entertainment system...your small appliances...most of the electronics in your car...etc. all chinese. Obviously they must be doing SOMETHING right. Don't lecture me about losing jobs & manufacturing capacity in the US--I agree but the simple fact is the chinese will produce anything you want & at any price & quality you ask for. If it's crap it's because that's what the importer asked for.

In the 1970's it was Japanese car makers that put market pressure on the Big 3 that forced them to start making better cars with better warrantees at better prices. It was said then that the Japanese did not invent anything but stole ideas from America. Kind of the same thing that I am reading on this thread. I can remember when Japanese products were considered junk. The Chinese will either compete or go out of business. I am in favor of some healthy competition.

Hmmm...but all the "experts" in this thread say you can't get parts :rofl3:

I know I'm not the only guy in North America who's owned cheap chinese buggies and never had any problems with them. Parts interchange over most brands, upgrade parts are easy to find on eBay. With these things it's way more important to have a good dealer to deal with. Unfortunately most buy the cheapest they can find and usually from an online dealer that is only helpful until they have your money. It's also crucial to have a source of information, help and advice...like maybe a good forum. Makes all the difference knowing there are a few thousand others who've "been there, done that".
