Loading my RZR plus hauling my Travel Trailer

I have a 2005 GMC ext cab, I do believe the box is 6' 5". Anyways, wondering if there is anything around the site showing loading the RZR plus being able to hook up the the travel trailer. If I left the tailgate down would never be able to hook up the trailer. Now if there was a way, that would be the best vacation one could ask for.

Thanks,
Bryan.

You might look into the hitch extensions. they use them when you have a full size camper in the truck. It moves the reciever farther back. Torklift.com I think is the website.

I think the need to ask simply weeds out the ones who shouldn't.

Re: Loading my RZR plus hauling my Travel Trailer

Well the FIRST question is how much does your trailer weigh? Any mods to your RZR? If it will fit into your bed then you only issue is the tounge on your trailer. And as some have stated you can get a extender for your hitch. But that come back to how much does your trailer weigh? The standard ones aren't good for over 5,000lbs. There are ones on the market that will offer higher load capacity but they cost more. But if you want to be safe when you tow they are worth it.

I went to the website and here is the link....

Torklift.com | Home of Torklift International

not sure on pricing but it doesn't look cheap.....You must have a relatively light trailer as you lose much capacity using extensions....However for some it looks like a great option.....

I have a 24" extension I bought at Princess Auto that I use for a snowmobile trailer.....It allows me to have my gate down and still hook up my sled trailer.....my trailer is pretty light, under 2000lbs loaded with two quads or two snowmachines....

Re: Loading my RZR plus hauling my Travel Trailer

It can be done. But it is going to cost you!!!!

I have the TorkLift Super Hitch rated at 1700 tongue weight and 17000 pull weight. My 21 " extension which is a dual beam Super Truss de-rates the hitch to 750 tongue and 7500 pull. My trailer is 600/6000 so I'm well within limits.

I'm sure you are aware of this but if you aren't your weight distribution would be greatly improved by caring your RZR in your bed backwards

When you get older, you will learn the term 'I don't know' is the sign of a higher than average person on the thinking scale

The guy is just asking for help from a bunch of people that have probably alread done what he is trying to do

....and as you can see he has alread gotten some answers to his question

I'd go the rack rout if you could get away with it

...keep your hitch short

Re: Loading my RZR plus hauling my Travel Trailer

SGFO,
On a shortbed truck isn't the rack going to still have to be 8' long for the RZR to fit? So all your doing is move the turn point from the tail gate to the rack. Either could hit the trailer if it isn't moved back enough. I might not be looking at this right but that is my thought.

Re: Loading my RZR plus hauling my Travel Trailer

I run a F250 with 6 3/4 bed and haul my RZR S and a 28ft TT that weighs 8000lbs loaded. I have a Hensley Hitch and the optional 7" longer hitch insert. Occationally the tailgate will hit the torstion towers on the camper hitch set up. I wish the extension was 3" longer. After 2 years of running this set up, next time I will get a truck with an 8' bed and I will add rear air bags to level the load. Load is Ok when running one or the other, but together I have to deal with 4-5" of sag.

Re: Loading my RZR plus hauling my Travel Trailer

All good comments...I can see why this is a top rated site for anyone wanting info on RZR's plus towing them. Being retired gives a bit of time trying to figure things out. Everyone here has been a great help. Wife and I are an older couple enjoying our new toy and exploring the countryside. When I first looked to the RZR, hmmm this is for the younger folk, NO WAY. Let them RZR,s fly. Our Trailer is a 26' Jayco, 5600 GVW, I will come up with a way to tow both the RZR and The Trailer.

Thanks Again,
Bryan
