ok I wanna buy a new RZR bad... help

I've been reading on this forum for about a year now, hoping to have heard something about fixing the blowing motor issues.. I have read they came out with a new filter and boot, but this doesn't seem to have fixed anything. I honestly think it has alot to do with where the filter sits. right in front of the wheel is not the best place to isolate it from dust.

MY question is, is there a true fix of any kind, or should I just keep waiting and hoping the next version will maybe have a fix? I'm sure if I wait long enough yamaha and kawi will have a rzr type machine out that wont have these issues. What should I do?

Buy one. Then buy a UMP or DFR filter. The first model year of the competitions machines will surely have problems too.

Agreed. I'm still extremely happy with my '08 Gen3 and just now decided to upgrade to the UMP Donaldson filter setup. The '09's will have a different filter moving forward but it's too early to tell if it will change anything.

Think about it this way, if the machine could be purchased off the showroom floor with a performance grade intake, would you pay $320 more pre-installed (UMP pricing)? I probably would have, so what's the difference. I also walked out the door with rock sliders already installed (at my expense of course) and I'm so glad I did. I promise you there is probably not a single RZR owner with a complete stripped down stock ride because you will always be adding accessories once you get it home. Just consider the intake your first project

Buy a Teryx ... there are killing everyone ... cheap to make them fast!

I wouldn't trade my 09 RZR S for anything!! I have not had any problems with dust as of yet! And I have been in some deep brown flour(silt) just to check it out. The only problem I have found ... trying to get the silt out of all the hidden places. I have washed it like three times trying to get it off. It just keeps growing. Go drive all of them stock ... Teryx ..RZR ... RZR S ... Rhino and it will answer most of your questions!!

If you are judging what you buy ... on the air filter ... ( and I mean no disrespect) you got bigger problems.

Read the post "what is the highest mileage RZR" , you can see there are plenty of success stories with the RZR too.

well I want the rzr because of the size, I want it strictly for recreation use, and the others are just to wide for trail riding in my opinion.

Also I think the air intake is a rather large issue if its blowing motors!

So the UMP filter is a tried and true fix?

I have not seen a single post where an aftermarket donaldson filter was used and the driver reported still having problems with dust past the filter. UMP, DFR, Donaldson do-it-yourself canister, all seem to work well.

Now that I have the RZR and have rode along with a Rhino, I've very glad I bought the RZR based on width. Most of my riding is tight trails here in TN that were cut out with 4wheelers in mind. I have barely fit through some trees and rocks to the point of not ever wanting wheel spacers. I'm like you in the since that this is a recreational toy and not for utility use, the larger dump beds are not a concern.

Re: ok I wanna buy a new RZR bad... help

If you wanted a RZR bad...you would have one. If having to install an airbox is stopping you, then you should go buy an electric PowerWheels truck. But wait, that won't work for you...the battery needs charging.

Sorry, that was harsh. Buy an 09 and ride the wheels off it!!!
