Re: ok I wanna buy a new RZR bad... help

Here are some pictures of the $499.00 DFR sealed cannister made for water and mud. As you can see from the pics, the cannister pushes against the boot and the fit is real tight. I don't see it falling off or coming loose. I'm not sure about the UMP and water/mud. Someone who has one will chime in and let you know. If you go with the DFR, talk to Jordan and get a $50.00 discount for being a member of this forum or see if your dealer can get it cheaper for you. My Polaris dealer got me a better price than what DFR could do...

Some owners have added a filter to the airbox between the seats that will filter the CVT intake and create a dual stage filtration for the air intake. Search the forum for "Grumpy mode" to see an example.

I have a question ... why do msot of the threads in this forum end up to be about something 180deg. from the question posted.

It seems that most of them end up to be a talk on air cleaners?

Re: ok I wanna buy a new RZR bad... help

I put 230 miles on mine so far and i live in the UP of MI and like anyone here will tell you its DUSTY. Now i have to admit i havent had any dust that i can tell thats gone into my motor. I checked it frequently cleaned the prefilter and greased the seal on the lid every time I opened it. At about a 150 miles the dealer installed the flexable boot. I guess im a more leary person them most but last week i ordered a DF air box and clutch kit. Ive studied all the razor forms closely and have yet to here of anyone not pleased with the df box and for the extra 100 bucks over the ump im not going to loose sleep over. Im also not going to take a chance on a vehicle i have over 15 grand into because im to cheap to buck up for a 500 dollar intake. It was my money and i DID spend it and will never regret it. I dont want to be driving down a dusty trail or following a buddy kicking up dust and worry that im sucking sand! Ive got two people in this small town that have been running rzrs for a couple years and both have had to have there motors rebuilt and ones on his second rebuilt. So the problem is REAL. Ignore it and it isnt going away.

Most likely because the #1 topic about the RZR at the moment is the dust in intake problem. These machines are the best thing out there IMO and after this is issue is addressed, fixed and beaten into the ground 5,000,000 times, then I think you see less talk about it. As far as the thread going off subject...your post helped contribute to that.

Happy trails.

it is the best side by side for rec riding out there, and with the DFR or UMP your set to go.

Re: ok I wanna buy a new RZR bad... help

These post often end up this way sooner or later, especially when someone is asking for advice on purchasing a new RZR. I agree with RZRCRZY that we will all get past this sooner or later and just start enjoying our machines.

There is only two type of RZR owners, the ones who care about the dust issue and the ones who don't. I paid too much not to care.

Re: ok I wanna buy a new RZR bad... help

call your dealer. He should have one there with your name on it. You will probably have to bring it in with the stock intake to get it put on though. Actually with the DF mounted on the motor instead of the frame the solid original should work just as well. I had them put mine on anyway as i figured down the line they could blame dust injestion on the fact i didnt do the upgrade
