Who is using the DF air filter system?

If you've put the DragonFire air filter on, post up and let us know how it's working. Which one are you running?

I am tired of waiting on Polaris and my dealer said he would give me one at cost to hopefully help with the dust problem.

Just want to see if anyone who has one...still has dust issues.

Thanks!

I am running the race filter and it looks good and no dirt in intake, it is the way to go riding in heavy dust.

Got the snorkle semi-sealed one. Very happy, problem solved.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

Is the race filter the same as the semi sealed? Being in UT...we don't do much mud bogging...need water for that.

Can you order the filters direct from Douglas? How much are the replacements?

Thanks!

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

The race filter has louvered cut outs aprox. 3/4 of the way around the canister. It has the most air flow of the filter setups available. It is the same unit used on desert racing vehicles. It discharges a high percentage of dirt before it even reaches the filter. Using Donaldson filter that is used in lndustrial/heavy equipment. Simply remove filter element and blow it out with air. They last a very long time before needing to be replaced. They also mount to the egnine/tranny and flex or move with the motor instead of pulling at the intake boot and allowing debris to enter the intake. The snorkel type semi sealed and o-ring sealed canisters are for water/mud applications but are a more restrictive design. I feel it is the best longterm moddification that can be made on the RZR.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

DCRZR - goto any of the following sites: Dragonfire Racing, Holz, or BTI Performance. They all offer the semi-sealed snorkle one.

An interesting thing about the semi-sealed or o-ring equipped ones is that it's probably quieter than the race one - of note to anybody that's bought a Benz silencer as you'll know where I'm coming from with that.

Reason I got the semi-sealed one is because it's always so wet here. I don't intend to go submarining, but I just expected water to get in from the rear left wheel spray. I also wasn't interested in maximum performance, though BTI doesn't say the non-race ones are actually any slower.

After I switched to my cyclone canister, it felt more torquey, smoother and quieter. It's a subtle change, after all it's not what the unit is sold on. The main thing is now I no longer have to give a shit about dust. Just ride and forget. No need to check filter after every ride either (though it's a LOT easier than the stock setup with it's fiddly hose clip). One big spanner and away you go.

DragonFireRacing.com - Polaris Ranger RZR Performance
The red one in the middle of the page is the Snorkel version and the brushed aluminum one a little further down the page is the race intake. Both FIX the dirt in the intake problem, one is just better suited for wet weather conditions.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

Has anyone tried the F2 racing filter, I noticed it is much cheaper, however i wanted to see if it fixed the problem before going for the ump or the dragon fire.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

F2 uses PVT air flow to blow the dust out, in a self cleaning manner. Pretty clever - though some have pointed out this will lead to higher belt temps and is a bad idea.

F2 also has intake behind the drivers rear seat? They say it's a lot less dusty there - I'm not sure I agree - and am dubious of a company that makes a big point about that.

Not sure if the F2 is mounted to the engine.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

I installed the dragonfire semi-seal air cleaner (which is made by BTI) and found it works great! The product is very well engineer and everything lined up perfrectly with the engine and stock air intake location between the driver and passanger seat on the RZR.
