Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

yes it uses the stock boot, But here is the kicker. WHEN MOUNTED TO THE STOCK LOCATION (frame) the boot lets dirt by, because it creates a pivot point from frame to motor. Everytime you give it gas the engine/tranny assembly rocks back and forth from the engine tourqe. Our system Mounts to the engine tranny assembly so it moves with the assembly every time you give it gas, thus taking out the pivot point. That and the Filter is about 4 times as big as the stock filter

Yes it does use the stock boot. But because the canister is bolted to the transmission its virtually impossible for it to come off because the distance between the canister and throttle body cannot increase, if you see what I mean. I think the cyclone also goes more into the boot itself. As good as the filter and cyclone itself is, it's also the mount that makes it such a rock solid solution to all of the weak points in the stock setup.

That whole engine rocking and pulling the boot apart deal is BS...If you have the back off of your machine and give the thing some hard gas you'll see the engine rotates towards the air box , pushing the boot on tighter...The people that have had problems with boots popping off is because with every new toy or race machine you have to go over it every now and then and check to see whats tight and lose.. Our boot clamps on both our new RZR's were lose enough to move with your fingers new...

I also noticed the DF (BTI) aircleaner aluminum housing fits snugger and seems to go further into the stock rubber boot. The aircleaner even has a notch (cut out) to accomodate what looks like an air sensor near the end of the stock rubber boot; this alows the boot to be pushed further on to the airclear housing. The mount is also rock solid.

Its not BS, it doesnt matter which way the engine flexes, either toward the airbox or away from it either way it creates a tiny gap for dust to be sucked in.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

Hey, just got mine yesterday. Very impressed with the quality. Went to install it, noticed I'm missing the crankcase filter. When't ahead and installed anyway. Started it up. Sounds quiet. I have the snorkle version. By the way, can someone tell what kind of filter this is, I hopefully I can pick up one. Want to ride to tomorrow. Thanks in advance. I too got tired of waiting on Polaris, didnt want to take a chance on messing the motor up. Cause Polaris parts are high. Mine only has 5 hrs on it ( in the yard).

That exactly how dirt gets in the trottle body... around the filter or completely bypassing the filter.

I no longer have the packaging for mine. It's a UNI crankcase filter, not what the DFR instructions seemed to refer to, which was an older item I would guess. I recall the little packet saying "UNI Crankcase Filter" and then the size of the connector, I guess you need to measure and buy the nearest you can find.

It's a tight fit I recall, at first I thought it wasn't going to fit, but just wiggle and wiggle and she'll slip into place.

My runner-up Donaldson G070017 is longer than stock so I may have to replace the boot, too.

Re: Who is using the DF air filter system?

The filter can outlet is 1/4" larger than the Throttle body. The Air inlet to the Can is 3"..I spent several hrs at a Auto parts place measuring Radiator hose's. I did find one the fits the throttle body and steps up to the air box, with the correct bend. I used 3" hose from the can to the EHS secondary box..
