the common problems with rzrs, are the drivers who abuse them and then wonder why they break! lol
or try to float them throught the pond or see how far they can jump it or hit whoops fast as they can go...cuz if there neck aint broke, the rzr should break either...lol

just like cars,,there are some cars as solid as a rock and others can be lemons....who knows...and i happen to get a solid one....!! yeah!! i know several people in my home town that own them and none of these have had any major problems.

either way,,,,there are tons and tons of aftermarket parts to mod them to the moon. i wouldnt hesitate to buy another one.

Front differential is weak due to plastic carrier, but new ones have gone to aluminum. Transmissions have and continue to be a problem. It seems like its hit and miss on this, but it doesn't take abuse to break them. Suspension springs have been known to break on certain model years. Roll cage is more like a beauty panel than an actual safety cage at high speed or in a hard impact. Air intake system leaks dust into the motor. Seems the main culprit is the air filter canister bolts to the frame, when the motor moves, the boots deflect and let dust enter............

I personally haven't had any problems, but I did what you are doing (Your homework) before you jump in with both feet.

Air box, early years have a problem with them sealing
09 RZR-S's had a bad batch of keepers(?) with one side of the axle (they popped out)
, but I think they are for the most part fixed now

Front diff had been addressed above.

For the most part it is driver error.....don't slam it into AWD at 55. You can't land WFO on the throttle, something is going to break.

You will tip the standard 50" RZR over....

yes you will break the belt if you burn it and abuse it (like everything with a CVT)
yes the clutch will slip when you fill it with water
yes they sink

yes they are fun, I have one (RZR-S) and I'm happy with it

If you want to haul anything more than your lunch....should look at something else
there is no storage

Not enough time to get out a ride has been my biggest problem.

Good afternoon, whoever is reading this

I have a Polaris RZR 800, and I have noticed some issues with it. Whenever I turn it on, it makes a pump pump sound every 3 seconds and it turns off after 10 seconds. Now when I'm riding it and going up hills/bumps, the Polaris doesn't have enough strength to go up it. This issue has been going on for a while, I have tried changing the oil, but nothing changed. I have also tried changing the spark plug, nothing changed either. Please help me whenever you can.

Please and thank you, I will appreciate it very much.

Mimi69,

A couple of things you can do, First fill out your profile - it will tell us your name, location and year and model of your RZR.

Then start a thread in the RZR 800 Specific section of the forum stating your problem and what you have done so far.

Doing so will get you more help and more suggested fixes than you can imagine.

Pappy is correct about the fuel pump all 800 RZRs require a minimum of 39psi at all times from the fuel pump. Borrow a tester from an auto parts store and test the pressure at the back end of the fuel rail. If it drops below 39psi at any time replace the fuel pump. There are several vendors here that sell them, Polaris will try to sell you the fuel tank assembly for several hundred dollars more than what the pump alone costs.

Mine:

-Leaking fuel rail (looking for billet replacement).
-Cam chain slap/rattle on startup (replaced with Weller Racing tensioner).
-Lousy shocks (at least on the Trail, replaced with Bandit Series 46).
-Transmission bearings can fail. I'm currently replacing mine with Japanese Nachi's before failure, as new trans is $2600.
-Intake boots can crack and bypass dust (replace every 12-18 months or go billet if available).
-Air filter can bypass dust (R2C solves this).
-Polaris belt is iffy (replace with Gates C12 carbon belt).
-No parking brake (Pawltector will solve straining and breaking transmission parking pawl).
-Don't use Polaris engine oil.

Nothing above is owner induced, BTW. Other than that...

Seems people have issues with water/dust getting in the gas pedal switch or connector. There’s a post out there about removing the gas pedal and cleaning it out, also to put dielectric grease in the electrical connector. It will cause the machine to go closed pedal either permanently or intermittently. Press the gas pedal and no throttle response. Happened to my brand new machine, but coincidentally only happened a couple times when I was in a very dusty area.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
