Polaris recalls are getting old

Polaris needs some engineer's that are worth a damn. I have had four and all have had recalls

13 XP 900: voltage regulator might catch on fire

15 Ranger XP 900: heat shield might fall off and vehicle catch on fire

16 XPT: overheating recall, clutch recall

17 General: contaminated master cylinder

Give me a break Polaris. I spend more time not riding them due to "don't ride" recalls and taking them back to the dealer than I do using them

Re: Polaris recalls are getting old

Very unfortunate. I'm sure Polaris isn't happy about the recalls either.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to add your wonderful comments.

I buy them because I like them. What I don't like is the recalls as I stated. If Ford had recalls on nearly every model that they made they would go broke. Polaris must have deep pockets

That's my point, guy.
You, me, everyone else keeps buying them regardless, and they know it. So why improve the quality if the still sell

No problem taking time out of my day, I was just taking a dump when I read your post anyways.

Re: Polaris recalls are getting old

I agree there are plenty of recalls, but at least they are stepping up and fixing the issues instead of letting people ride unaware and unsafe.

I don't mind the recalls- 15 RZR xp1000 and 13- XP900
Received a voucher for $250.00 each- for Polaris parts and Acc.
So. a few oil change kits and spare batteries for each was free...

Nope- didn't mind it at all...

Re: Polaris recalls are getting old

Polaris doesn't make heat shields. They do not make voltage regulators. They do not make master cylinders. What they do is buy from the lowest bidder that makes something that will work because that increases their margin on the units they sell. They do what every manufacturer does. They increase profit to the max. That's why some parts have less quality. That's why MSRPs rise. You can't blame them for trying to make the most money. That's the goal of every business. All you can do is quit buying things from them. But news flash..... until yamaha figures out how to make a side by side again, or until kawasaki or suzuki care about it, or until can-am discovers that the key to 4wd is the 4, then don't expect too much.

I was unaware that the 16xpt had a overheat recall or a clutch recall. I thought those were good faith upgrades....

Re: Polaris recalls are getting old

My RZR has had a gas vent tube inspection recall, a warning sticker bulletin and the big VR/Fuse box/heat shield stop ride recall. The last one they sent me a $250 accessory coupon and a $1k new sxs coupon. So far my dealer in Palmer AK has completed all of these repairs/inspections in 2 days or less from when I dropped it off.

My 2014 Ford has had a faulty door handle recall, a rear door trim service bulletin and required the entire dash be removed to replace the air bag. It also was out of service for a month with an oil leak.

Everyone hates recalls but with a good dealer mine have been pretty pain free. I don't know how you test a machine to really cover the variety of ways we use (abuse) them. As a culture we want cutting edge everything. If you spend the years in R&D testing that it would take to hopefully eliminate any recalls before releasing a product then you will be way behind the competition.

Even if you did all that R&D and released the perfect product on day one it still wouldn't address dealing with future supplier variations that could cause a problem.

A recall won't stop me from riding. And I also enjoyed getting an extra $1k off my new Turbo along with free upper and lower Polaris door bags.

Re: Polaris recalls are getting old

A recall didn't stop me from riding either. I took the $1000 they gave me off any new S/S and bought a Ranger XP900 to add to my 2015 Rzr 900S.
