RZr zerk greasing

Fellas help please...2014 rZr 800 S... Greased all the Zerks I could find... Counted 13 including the one on drive shaft. Is that all?. Also.. All Zerks took grease except for one on drive shaft... All it did was build pressure on my flex hose and grease started coming out of the connections on flex hose from all the pressure.... This mean it's full or....?

Re: RZr zerk greasing

Zerks threads into yoke (also suspension fittings & tubes). Threads are tapered, so they self seal.
I pump till I hear it squishing past O-rings.
A few pumps should push dirt & water out.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

pumping into the drive shaft though, where is it going to come out of..... the yoke? I just don't want to over fill....

ALSO....the zerk STILL will not take grease....I cleaned it over and over....no gunk left in it...I even took my air compressor hose to where the zerk was screwed into a blew that out a little and just TON of dust came out....what you thinking? will replacing the zerk allow the grease intake...I feel like ive cleaned it well enough for it to take grease..but its not.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

Yes, the zerk that is on the splined yolk will have grease added for the purpose of keeping the splines from rusting together so they slide in and out nicely. The excess grease will come out of the yolk but that's what it is supposed to do.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

I've had that happen too, mine were rusted solid so the ball wont go in to let grease go by it. Not sure if that's the problem you're having but that was mine. You can just buy a new one for a few pennies at any part store and swap it out.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

Will grease travel through the zerk after you take it out? If grease will flow, I doubt it's the zerk. Sometimes things are so dirty or corroded that it's tight and grease won't go in. Sometimes you have to work things to get the grease flowing. Regular maintenance can help prevent this. Also, I always wipe off the tips of the zerks before greasing. No sense in pushing dirt in there. Good luck.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

I've had plenty of zerk fittings clog and not take grease. simple fix. take a small nail and push the ball in and out a few times. look at the photos ca 800 had in his reply and you'll see what i mean.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

I'm not sure if it will travel without being attached or not I figured ill just go get a 35 cent zerk from Fastenal then see if that works...if not, then I have another problem I guess....ive only owned this a month...it has 47 hours and 300 miles on it....so I'm trying to do my best to learn to maintenance this thing and make sure it stays tip top in good shape...

Re: RZr zerk greasing

Then good on you, always good to see the ones who want to do the maintenance and learn about the machine instead of the ones who just abuse it for a couple years and then sell it to someone who doesn't know what they're about to get into!

Re: RZr zerk greasing

I meant no offense by the maintenance remark Grease should go through it unattached. What I'm saying is that your driveshaft could be so dry and plugged up that a new zerk isn't going to help you. Is there tension on the shaft? If so, get the tension off it and that may help.

Re: RZr zerk greasing

For the price and ease of not having to remove the shaft I personally would swap them out first, if it works great, if not then tear the machine down and remove the shaft...if it's not seized.
