Ratchet straps

I'm wondering what kind of ratchets people use to tie down there rzr's. I have had bad luck with snap on ratchet straps and good year straps , and a host of others. They break or Frey to Easily. And how many do people use to tie the rzrs down. I usually use 4.

Re: Ratchet straps

I run 4 of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

1 1/2 inch wide, 1,000 working load limit, 3,000 lbs break strength, built in soft ties w/ d-rings, snap hooks.

I've got somewhere between 8k - 10k miles on the road with them. Haven't let me down yet, and aren't really showing any signs of wear.

Larry, I just took a look at those MACs. HOLY SMOKE, those are some heavy duty tie downs. Gonna have to keep those in mind for whenever the time comes that I need to replace these.

Re: Ratchet straps

I have found that if you make sure there is at least a couple of turns of the strap around the ratchet axle they hold better. Also after a few miles of driving you need to stop and retighten them because they stretch some.

Re: Ratchet straps

I use these 1-1/2". All stainless and the hooks stay locked unless you push them in. Just in case they loosen up.

Re: Ratchet straps

I use six of these, four pulling forward, two pulling rearward. Probably don't need that many, but no one's ever lost a machine, due to extra straps. Like someone above mentioned, you always want to be sure you have a couple wraps on the spool, before cinching them down. And always be certain that they're not rubbing anything, because that'll just cause premature wear and/or failure. whatever you use, don't rely on any of the little 1" wide straps, they're just not heavy/secure enough.

But I really like the Macs (pictured above behind the red Chevy) that secure the tires, so that you're not restricting suspension movement and the related kinetic energy. The constant restriction of the suspension, and travel movement of the trailer bouncing around as you go down the road, is what causes slack in the load securement. These are a damn good system...

Re: Ratchet straps

Macs wheel bonnets. Well worth the $300ish. Secure and safe. As well as quick and easy.

Towed the rzr all over the country multiple
Times always using macks. The cheaper stuff works short term but they dont last.

Make sure you have a proper anchor point as well. Even a quality strap is useless if
Not anchored down right.
