New 850 Engine!

I"ll make this short but i wonder when polaris will put the 850 engine in the RZR? It looks like it was almost designed ta fit in the RZR! at a claimed 70 hp stock that would b a hell of a boast! WOW! Just a thought! Mmmmm!

Re: New 850 Engine!

I have also heard it won't work in the RZR due to the orientation of the motor. I ain't a mechanic, so I can't be for sure. I do think that the market will probably demand a higher HP engine within about 2 years. Once Can-Am enters, it becomes a HP race.

Re: New 850 Engine!

NO, once can-am enters it becomes a $$$$ race......I dont know about any of you guys but I would guess that they will be way way to expensive for my budget!! Can-am side x sides will probably MSRP at least $14,000 for base model (just my guess).....those things are going to be reserved for millionaires!!! I would never spend that much on a side x side, there is just no way they could justify a UTV being worth that price tag.

Re: New 850 Engine!

I could easily justify a price of $14,000K

My RZR was 10,200
New front and rear bumpers
Graphics
3,500 synthetic rope winch
Hard cab
full windshield
Fender Flares
Tires and rims
lift kit
PIA brushguard lights
Typically the Can Ams have stuff like that installed

I couldn't agree more!

My wife would be elated if $ 14,000 was all I had spent on my RZR!
Besides, the new 2009 Can-Am 800 CC engine is putting out something like 70+ Horsepower STOCK!
No need for a turbo with that kind of power.

Bottom line. I love my RZR, but I will likely buy the Can-Am when it comes out.

Re: New 850 Engine!

You have a Turbo RZR? And you would sell it to buy a Can-Am? There is a guy over at GlamisDunes.com with a Rhino with a Rotex(or Rotax) who said he got beat pretty good by a Turbo RZR. I never intended on spending $18K on this thing but I'll be damned if I an't got that into her now! Fack it I ant selling mines for $5K+ less than I have in it... But I'm happy with the power I have now. I'm not in the sand much and stock these things go fast enough in the dirt.

By the time the Can-Am SXS comes out I'll have about a million miles on the RZR and it will be time for a new one.
I have put 1,100 miles on my RZR in just 4 months, & one month was spent building it!

It really is a testament to how well built the Polaris drivetrain is. I’ve been running 8# of boost on pump gas and not a single problem.

Here is the bottom line for me. Polaris really hit a home run with the RZR and caught everybody off guard. Now they need to stay ahead of the pack. I certainly think they can, they are just going to have some real competition soon.

I’m really disappointed Polaris didn’t do a couple of needed upgrades to the 2009s, like a parking brake, and a better designed air intake system.
I am not brand loyal. I’ll buy whoever’s product I think is best when it’s time to get a new one. It might be another RZR, but Can-Am really does their homework & builds nice stuff. I have one of their Spyders and am REALLY impressed with it.

A reliable source told me he has seen the prototypes & test mules.
They are going after that 50" wide market. The word is they have their engineers working overtime to cure the rollover issues.
As far as timeline, He said we "may" see them hit the showrooms in "Early 2009" as a 2010 model.

I'm sure that could easily change though. I figure, I'll just wait and see if this all pans out.
