RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

Hello.. First Post!

I have been building a custom golf cart (if you can call it that) and just picked up a new EZGO rear end. It has a splined shaft and a buddy in the golf cart industry tells me he has a RZR driven clutch on his cart that bolted right up.... Now I have no idear of what the splines are on a RZR and am looking for a second opinion on this set up before I buy one on Fleabay.

Would anyone have an approx diameter and spline count of the Polaris output shaft?

I am also wondering how a stock tuned RZR clutch would run with my motor... I read they go full backshift around 5800?

I am running a 2 stroke Twin Yamaha 440 Fan Cooled motor out of a sled with a Comet 102-C primary & a silver spring (the one Comet recommends for the sled my motor came out of)

My motor makes the bulk of its power from 5000-8500 if that helps.

Comet is out of business and I have had little to know help from making phone calls to different shops.. Including some local guys that sponser on here. I live in AZ so my experience with Sleds is non existant.

Any help would be great! I know that some of guys on here are good at tuning these clutches.....

If the RZR set up fits it will save me some coin in the long run

Does Polaris run this same seconary on other machines? Like some of the Sportsman Quads?

the RZR uses Team primary and secondaries. You might be able to call Team for info.
Supreme Tool Inc would know. They make billet clutches for sleds, rzrs, and go carts.

Re: RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

I have been in talks with the tech guru @ Team.. The rear end I really wanted had a different set up (1 1/8" shaft with a 3/16" keyway) and they had a nice secondary set up that would of worked great for $250 bucks.

I had not run across one of those rear ends and a new one is out of reach right now @ $1600 plus shipping.

I will try them again.. I did not know they use a Team set up. ATV Racing uses them for there Tazcar that runs high powered sled motors (and Ecotechs, VTechs, ect) so that where I herd of them before.

I have a spare RZR transmission at my shop. I can measure the shaft and splines tomorrow.

Re: RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

LOL.. thanks and thanks!

Roll cage is next on the list.. Just need to weld in the seat belt tabs (I have Dragon Fire Belts) and build a bumper/lightbar too. It measures out 12" travel front and 13" rear.. Weighs 650lbs as it sits without the cage.

Motor has a Performance Pipe, Reeds, fresh pistons and bore, slight port work.. I'm guessing around 55hp at the flywheel...

Building to be a cruiser to take to the hill and drags.. That will handle the bowls on the way back to camp if I feel like duning out. I was at Gordons this last weekend and spent alot of time watching the LongTravel RZRs and Rhinos bomb sand highway... I can't wait to get it out there!

I called Comet and some gal told me that Comet filed BK and all the tooling & current inventory was being bought by another company that may or may not keep going with production...

They were no Tech guys left to answer my questions

This was about 8-9 months ago

If you could also tell me how long the splined shaft is that would be helpful too...

Thanks!

Re: RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

Hell ya! I think we got a match!

Thanks alot for taking the time to do this.... I am trying to get ahold of Jason at Team to pick his brain on how one of these will work on a small sled motor that is tuned for a RZR.

The only difference on the EZGO splines is the the whole shaft is splined and it is a tad bit shorter (2 3/4") .. I think it will work.

Re: RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

cool.
A stock RZR puts out 55hp at the crank with a 6300 rpm limit... but guys have raised the rpm limits up to 8000rpm I think with the stock clutch.

Re: RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

If you want to buy a used RZR secondary, I have one with low miles that I no longer need.
I had an Apex snomobile engine put in my RZR and it uses a different clutch, so I don't need the other one.
It is a Team Rapid Reaction. $200 shipped and it is yours.

Re: RZR Clutch on an EZGO Rear End?

Do you know off hand what size belt (top width) works best with this secondary?
