Re: power steering ??????

good question...

I think they install under the dash, so you are probably ok.

I know one thing you have to get used to is that when you let go of the wheel, it does not return to center on its own. you have to turn it back to center to go straight.

Re: power steering ??????

I Love my Electric Power Steering - Cliff is correct it installs under the dash, nothing to modify because of the Weber install and No More Bump Steer plus in the short dunes its a breeze to drive --- My car has a lot of horse power and even at speed it's not too touchy - Ok it takes maybe 15 minutes of seat time to get used to but after that you wounder why, did I wait so long to install it???
Now on the other hand BigMike bitches because it adds extra weight, in my eyes its worth the sacrifice

Not sure where the Weber Oil Cooler/line go...but yes the Unisteer(assume that is what the OP is talking about) goes under the dash..the only parts that aren't under the dash are the steering shaft(basically the same as the stock shaft) and the main power cable to the battery...

And believe it or not it actually does return to center...not quite as quickly as no PS...but it isn't nearly a dead wheel when you release it..after a few days of driving it you will forget the PS is there...until you try to turn the wheels with the key off...it is that natural feeling.

You won't regret it - there is 2 holes you have to drill (uni-steer) that are kind of a bitch but other then that a pretty straight forward install...

PS:I guess I won't answer you on the other forum, LOL

As far as I can tell it's the same ratio steering as stock - even with your longer wheel base I can't see you wanting a quicker ratio steering system - that seems to me it would be as unsafe & squirrely as the steering on the early 70's Dodge Darts

LOL.. ya, for duning and trails I was thinking a quick ratio box would be easier to drive...
But you are right, I don't want it to be too touchy.

I personally think you would really like the operation of the power steering - still not sure about the other!!!

I've never been sure on the definition either...I think people mean more or less (example) your driving through the woods and clip a rock or tree stump and the steering wheel snaps at you....I know that goes away... But bump steer??.... I've never felt anything but smooth steering from my EPS...

Re: power steering ??????

ok, ya... if the tires hit something they shouldn't be able to back drive the steering wheel and break your thumbs...!

bump steer is when you hit a bump and the tires turn a little even though the steering wheel isn't turned. It is a suspension thing.
