Are you two serious? Do you REALLY think there is no difference in the way you drive a car on a road and how you drive a vehicle off road?

According to Herman, one should learn from their mistakes. However, Todd since you say you've rolled your RZR more than once, I am assuming you either didn't learn anything from the first time or Herman's logic is flawed. I think it is a combination of both.

Driver training on a ATV/UTV isn't that hard to obtain. In most cases, one can read about the differences of a ATV/UTV and their inherent tendencies and how to safely drive them. Aside from vehicle preservation, protecting ones life is pretty high on the importance scale last time I checked. Understanding how to safely drive a UTV or any vehicle for that matter increases the likely hood of keeping the shiny side up. That doesn't mean you cannot have fun or go fast. In fact, knowing how to properly drive a vehicle often means you can do things while maintaining control where others loose control.

They say pain is a great teacher but one shouldn't have to learn the hard way, although that's the only way some people learn. And for the record, I drive my RZR hard but I also know how to drive it and its limitations. A little knowledge can go a long way when it comes to having fun safely.

Re: Lets discuss rollovers!!

Thanks (((ACAD))) ! Just got the new frame today & I think hubby ordered the Walker Evans shocks. This had been quite the expensive roll over. I said 1400.00 earlier which was 2400.00, Now with the frame we are up to 4000.00. Oh well at least our son is ok.

Quess I better go to the off road training....LOL

(((LouDiamond)))...........Our kids been riding since he was 6 years old., he is 16 now. We have quads and bikes. He is quite experienced at riding his KTM 400, as well as my Grizzly 660. It isn't lack of experience, these RZR's are just different, he went to jump & over it went!

Thats the point. Knowing how to drive ones vehicle is important, especially if the driver has little or no experience with that particular vehicle. I remember when we got the new FMTVs in the military. Guys who tried to drive them like the old Deuce and a half soon found themselves in a vehicle laying on its side. Subsequently, everyone who had a Deuce license had to take FMTV driver training. Once that became mandatory, the incidence of FMTV roll overs went down as the drivers changed their habits. Knowing a vehicles capabilities and limitations will allow you to drive it like you stole it. I've found that most dealers offer a familiarization/safety course usually for free and you can also get some good information from most 4x4/ off road shops or guys who off road their vehicles, especially those who race their UTVs.

Re: Lets discuss rollovers!!

Great post. Thank you. You nailed it on the head. Driver training for any vehicle along with some good old fashion common sense helps to avoid things like this. In case your wondering, it was a 2008 Honda Civic, and it was someones 17 year old son. This is the worst part about being a cop.

Could you put some punctuations in your posts? They are so hard to read b/c you don't use any periods or start new sentences with capitol letters.

I think it may help you get your point across better.

Just a friendly suggestion.

Drop off a extreme trail on Coal Creek--rolled twice then a front flip--no injuries but $6500 in damage
